the way racism and sexism intertwine for black women and girls can be deadly. if you know the media wont focus on the victim because they dont fit the traditional 'lost white girl' box, if you know theres institutional racism in the police, if you know society wont pay much attention to a victim and you manage to find a young vulnerable victim all alone, it makes alot of sense of a predatory violent male to target them. walking outside alone as a woman/girl is always a bit dangerous because you KNOW how theres the potential of meeting a creepy violent male who might want to kidnap, rape and murder you

its a universal thing for women. but throw racism into that mix, to know that society and the media wont pay attention because you arent white, to know that the police wont actively take the case as seriously as they should, to know that the media will also do everything they can to write you off as a horrible/lazy/troubled/crime committing monster, its just too much. theres many cases, the Lauren Smith-Fields one really stood out for me. it took the police weeks to actually CONTACT the family and they only did that because they wanted to go through her bedroom to look for evidence. it just blows my mind how much trauma her family have been put through

FFS, I'm DONE with putting every single violent male in psychiatric testing. Male violence can and is done by men regardless of mental health! I'm sick of men hiding behind all sorts of excuses to avoid the blame for their abusive and violent actions, and I'm sick of the myth that people with mental illness are more prone to violence.

I understand that there are a FEW people who are truly violent due to mental health, however that doesn't excuse their actions. They need to be put away, they're not fit for society.
