Still processing the effects from last night- overall things turned out ok but definitely rethinking things.

Went out on a 2nd date with a guy who seems promising. My state is initiating some restrictions so, we tweaked our plans to go somewhere closer to where I live. The restaurant had a smaller lot and was busy, so I suggested to meet him at a separate location nearby and take my car.

Everything went great, and I drove him back. We were saying our goodbyes and I'll admit we were lingering for a little bit. It's a rural area, not much around and usually don't see police... except for tonight.

He stops to see what we're doing- I get it, but we weren't doing anything questionable and explain the situation and that we had dinner at X place. It's a nice restaurant, but this cop starts acting like we've been getting trashed at the local bar. Date literally had 1 beer hours ago, but "he can tell he's been drinking and not fit to drive." I get pressured into taking a man I just met to my home, something I really wasn't ready to do.

My date at least was feeling just as awkward about this and was a gentleman about it. Tried to make me feel more comfortable about the situation, did not attempt to pressure me at all, and the one thing that happened between us was him gently rubbing my back to help me relax.

Right now, I just feel annoyed at myself for being put in a situation that I wasn't prepared for, by a third party. If my date had not been a gentleman, it could've been unsafe for me. There's no ubers by me, so we were pretty much stuck. Evening ended nice enough, but with a level of closeness/ intamacy that I feel is a little soon for. I feel like I need to take a little step back to figure out where to go from here.
