Feeling cringe-y about past actions is perfectly fine - it shows that you have grown so very much that you are now not satisfied with your previous actions anymore! :) Keep at it, but stay kind to yourself. You made the best decision you could with the information you had. You're still the same wonderful person, you just have more information now :)

A lot of FDS doesn't make sense until you experience it yourself and connect the dots. So don't beat yourself up. I was once in the place of a bunch of people (gently) screaming at me "love yourself!!!!" And I basically also gave an ultimatum that he ignored. But now that I experienced that I know better for the future. The person for me will never get to that point in the first place anyway.

He made it “easy” on you by not even having the decency to respond. He ghosted you so you don’t have much choice but to try to let go.

The true test will be not if, but when he comes crying and begging for you back. What will you do then? The reason why everyone told you to dump him is because he showed that he was no longer interested in you. This current action cements the fact.

You did the right thing by dumping him, but it hurts because he didn’t fight for you, try to change your mind or even respond which is honestly an even bigger rejection. I say all this to warn you that the hardest part hasn’t come yet. The hardest part is not giving him yet another chance when he comes crawling back, love bombing you and lying to you so you can give him attention.

You’ll know you’re no longer in pick me territory when you block him on all platforms and never unblock.

It’s a tough journey but you can make it. He will never be worth it again.

Congrats! I just went through something similar, but it took me much longer than it did for you.

I don't think the ultimatum/deadline thing was dumb - I think that, when used for your own peace of mind, it is a good tool to keep. But, I much prefer things to be black/white. I don't believe in complicating things, and with an ultimatum/deadline everything is there and quite clear for both parties what the expectation is. However, when it comes to this that usually means the relationship is dead anyway. A relationship should continually move forward/progress and if it isn't then it's not much of a relationship.
