It bothers me so much when guys have "my kids are my world" or something similar in their profile. To me it's common sense. You very obviously should put your children first. They are children, they need to be first. You get 0 Good Guy Points for putting them first. Just like you get none for being employed, breathing oxygen, or wearing pants. Like yeah, that's what you are supposed to do.

As someone who wronglyfully dated a ‘single dad’ (as my marriage and therapist said he wasn’t a single parent, as he was still extremely involved with his ex wife, and she had the kid 50% of the time) for 4.5 long years, I do not recommend any young childless woman to date a man with kids.

As a young woman with no children and no ex husband, the world is your oyster, as it should be. Lots of Single Dads are looking for the benefits of dating (sex and childcare), without someone who also has an ex and children. Because a woman on the same playing field would be way too much for them to handle.

I was 26 and my boyfriend was 35. Seemingly fine at first, but we had 2 different realities. The big problem was he wanted me to sacrifice quite a lot just because he had A cHiLd and an eX wIfE. I was young and naive so I allowed my needs in the relationship to be silenced by ‘mean stepmom stereotype’, again another stereotype used to silence women’s reasonable boundary request. He thought that made him more important in the romantic relationship. What I didn’t realize is that he didn’t want an adult romantic partner, he wanted a bangnanny who acted like a mini mommy. I was too accommodating, giving, acting like a mini mommy to realize he was doing absolutely nothing for me in return.

He dumped me after 4 years because I wanted to go back to graduate school. Yes graduate school. He told me that verbatim when he dumped me. He said “that would never work for me.” Graduate school that I would be paying for, and mind you was local. So I’d be in class for 2 years, 2 nights a week? Lol. That was too much for him. Even THOUGH it would have meant he would have benefited from my better paying career.

For the life of me I couldn’t understand something so illogical. My therapist said he wanted my financial benefit, free child care, and sex NOW. Graduate school was a threat to him because it would have simply meant my focus was on something else, and also, I would be more educated and higher earning than he was. A big no- no for my ex who barely graduated high school & got his ex pregnant at 21.

So yeah. This post gives me immediate red flags. He’s already telling you you will NOT be a priority in any which way, you will have EARN & I mean EARN (most likely with service, money, and sex) the chance to be a priority. But will never be quite good enough because he forever has an excuse to think less of you (HE’s a God because he’s a ‘single’ father and he struggles and not you).

He will likely also resent you if you have a full and active life as an individual that does not revolve around him and his child. Run far, far away from the majority of single dads. Women don’t have to be mini- mommy’s sacrificing everything raising someone else’s kids just because we are women.

A man who treats a woman he never even met with this much disrespect, couldn’t have a relationship with the mother, is no doubt going to abuse his child, especially if the child is a girl. What scum.
What the fuck is a full time dad? We know full well the mother is caring for that child and you aren’t even providing financially??? Get the fuck out of here you parasite. You are a waste to humanity.
