Riddle me this ladies:
So there is this man I’m talking to, could even say borderline “romantically involved with”... I use quotations to describe this because we started out as fwb... about a year ago, and from there our connection and bond seemed to grow past that.
Months went by, and all of a sudden we had cute nicknames for one another, cuddling always, going out of our way to do sweet things for one another, inside jokes, even living with one another. I felt like his love in girlfriend, and honestly, he treated me like it. It really started to feel like there could have been something budding there that was more than just a friendly booty call.
I always had a strong feeling he wasn’t over his precious fling. I also was aware of his so called “bad rep”. I always wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, because I like to give people their own chances to prove their own character to me.
Anyways, after catching him in lies, I had an inkling if suspicion that he might be playing me. As an introvert and a pushover, I was reluctant to speak my mind to him in fear of losing what he had... whatever it was...
After 10 months, I finally mustered up the courage to talk to him about how I felt and ask about where he stood. At first he told me he had feelings for me, but that things were “complicated” and he simply “didn’t know”. A few days later he basically retracted his statements, and when I told him he hurt me I didn’t get an apology, nothing... YET... he continued to act like normal, the nick names, attempting to cuddle me...etc.
Now I don’t think I will ever understand why he felt the need to lie to me about how he felt. After being open and honest with him, I thought at his age (30) he’d be able to reflect that same honesty with me. Maybe I was wishful, or maybe he just didn’t care as much as he told me he did? And I don’t understand why he just could act like everything was just fine afterwards? Why do men feel the need to have constant approval from multiple women? Can’t one ever be enough? Is it an ego thing?
Has anyone else been through this? How did you cope with it? Why would he act like nothing was wrong after breaking my heart when I expressed how I felt?
NOTE: I know we didn’t make anything official between us, as I was always told we were to be a secret from everyone for now... which turned into months, but it comes down to common morals and just not being a sh*#y person to others. You know, being considerate of others feelings.
Thanks lovelies xo
