I was taking an annual competency exam and I came across this question

Victims*** at greater risk for IPV* are:

A. Pregnant women

B. Women from families with an income below $10 000

C. Women who's job or educational level is higher than their partner's **

D. All of the above

You can guess that the answer is. We dont date down.

*Intimate Partner Violence

**To point out, women of higher income are less likely to experience abuse in the single population. The rate increases for those who decide to engage in a domestic partnership and the male partner has less income. A theory is given that women with higher income than their partner are more likely to report the abuse vs their equal and lesser incomed counterparts, hence the high number of reports. A counter-theory is that sudden increase in the woman's income gives new financial freedom that destabilizes the power dynamic leading to an escalation of level of violence.

***Not included in the choices but also part of high risk population for IPV are disabled men and women.
