At work today at the bookstore I work at there's a display that was recently put up which has the Rebel Girls series of books on it and on the display with a promotion for the organization First Book, which provides educational materials for girls. Now where is the equality in this, providing educational materials only for girls when boys struggle much more in schools and the educational system compared with girls? This is another example of the kind of one-sided equality and fake empowerment that panders to women (more like radical feminists) and as usual completely ignores and excludes males and the fact males still face inequality of their own. I honestly got pretty pissed seeing this, how can an organization claim to promote equality in schools when boys struggle much more and girls always get special and preferential treatment in the school system? Another example of boys being ignored and left behind. I bet if there was an organization that helped provide boys with educational materials, as usual feminists would protest it and decry it as being sexist and have it shut down, just like they've done with men's shelters.

On a similar subject, we also got the newest issue of People Magazine (not that I care about them) and on the cover was a headline about women changing the world. It's not to downplay women's achievements and accomplishments, but how is acknowledging only women equal? It's important that the accomplishments and achievements of men and women alike are celebrated and acknowledged, and there's men and women alike working together to try to change the world for the better. But as usual, everything has to be made into a women-only issue. I'm really fed up with this fraudulent "equality" which only caters to women. I think this only sends a terrible message to impressionable young women and girls, to get by in life not by your special talents but your gender.
