I just wanted to make this comment because this is a thin line to walk.

This is not a MGTOW refuge community. It has never been and never will be. We've already had a sub banned because it was falsely assumed to be one. We don't want it to happen again.

So forgive us for erring on the side of trimming the comments/posts a bit.

That being said. There is legitimate points to be made in saying that there's problems and discrimination men uniquely face in areas like marriage, divorce and relationships.

This is not the fault of women.

It is the fault of the way society views men as disposable breadwinners.

And we will actively remove any posts or comments that try to point the blame at groups based on their immutable characteristics. Along with any BS about the "nature of women."

To simplify. Think of sex Ed.

Religiously preaching abstinence only based on fire and brimstone rhetoric.

That's ineffective.

Teaching people the risks and how to mitigate them.

That's effective.

MGTOW aspects I like: We don't owe womenas a group, you can be perfectly happy on your own and without marriage (which institutionally discriminates against men), we don't have to be in a relationship and don't have to do anything.

MGTOW aspects I dislike: the immediate classification of all women as too great a risk to even be feiends sith if that just happens to come about. Not every man is out to rape and not every woman is out to ruin your life. The fewest are. Yet, some people fail toacknowledge this fact and instead stick to making their own lives miserable through their own bitterness.

No. We are against misogyny, and rigid gender essentialism. Choosing to avoid marriage or cohabitation is a valid personal decision.

I am MGTOW but for me it's just about picking your battles. For instance, I have a girlfriend who I love who I show this subreddit to. She used to be feminist but one of those low-information, feminists are the good guys right? kind of feminist. When I showed her the blatant misandry she didn't try and defend it.

However, I've met plenty of feminists male and female who instantly adopt the position, "if you're against me you're a terrible person". When it comes to these types I just tune out and walk away. Same with work. I'm a software engineer. The amount of female only programs is just flat out depressing. I grew up in a working class background and it's hard to see women from private schools with supportive professional parents having things thrown at them in the work place because they're women. Again, I just walked away. Focused on side projects outside of work hours and publications. These got me promotions in other companies. I just don't bother entering competitions etc because I'm a white male. It's just not going to happen.

The result is that I have a healthy relationship with my girlfriend, good social life, and good career. MGTOW isn't about completely checking out, it's about assessing each minigame you're going to play. If the minigame is rigged against me because I'm a man, na, I'm not going to play it. I've walked out on dates, and sometimes just tuned out of a workplace doing the bare minimum until a side project is finished and I can get a pay rise elsewhere with the new skill set I demonstrated.

Considering this I don't see how MGTOW really plays into any political ideology. It's just basic respect and being mature enough to know when a battle cannot be won even if you are in the right and walking away. It's not about classifying everyone. As I've gotten older a lot of women I knew to be feminist have changed their tune when they gave birth to sons. They see the world in a different light. I'm not saying you can only get with mothers. However, their views and attitudes bleeds into their friendships. I've also met a women who's husband was falsely accused of r*pe. She has a very different view of the police system once this unfold and he was eventually (after years) cleared.

If you're young I'd advise that MGTOW is about not trying to change the world but focusing on yourself. There will always be crazies but as you get older, life will beat nuance into a lot of men and women. When you feel that, that's when you start dating. A lot of normies don't actually agree with the political mainstream and keep their heads down out of self preservation whilst they focus on their own lives. A real extreme example of this is what's happening currently in Afghanistan. It's clear that many members of the public there are not fans of the Taliban, but they're just going to try and survive. Western society clearly isn't as extreme as this but people don't want to get cancelled or financially ruined and abused so they just keep their heads down and try and survive. You will in time find plenty of women who see through the feminist BS and actually like/love men.

I don't think its necessarily against the principles of the sub. Many here, including myself, would agree with you about things like bias in divorce courts and father's rights. The problem people have always had with MGTOW isn't the core philosophy (even if they personally disagree with the choice not to cohabitate in spite of the risks) its that instead of focusing on the institutional policies, a lot of MGTOW used to focus on women being the cause of all the problems with marriage. Saying that women are cold emotionless robots that simply want to wring the life out of men is what will get you pushback, but from what you said, it sounds like you don't believe that.

Honestly, the same thing that is happening with MGTOW is what happened with incels. The core philosophy of lookism started off merely pointing out biases and stigmatization of men based on looks. It doesn't tell you how to feel about that, whether women are the cause, and whether to hate them or not. But a lot of the misogyny that people associate with blackpill sprang up as a subculture based around it and kind of became permanently linked in many people's minds.

EDIT: Various changes to make it more clear that I'm talking about lookism, not other ideas that are commonly associated.

I think, sincere Left should reconsider the old Equal Right's Amendment. It addresses what many Men's Rights advocates complain about.

I don't believe men and women to be "equal" such as it is but I do believe for the purposes of the legal system we must be treated as such.

Huh? Equality as a legal fiction?
