I feel like the left wing is going crazy right now. Obsessed with identity politics at the expense of all nuance. Cancelling anyone who offers dissent of any kind, anti-freeI speech and bookburning type rhetoric. Motte and bailey arguments like defund the police, which everyone denies means what it sounds like, to abolish it outright... except those that do, and nobody is making an effort to distance themselves from these people, as they share a slogan, and the number of people supporting that is appearing to rise, and when that reaches critical mass, that'll become the new standard for seperating yourself from racists. Kafka traps are abound, there is no way to absolve oneself of guilt. Feminism creeps ever more forcefully into every institution, concealing truth, creating discriminatory law and policy, demonizing men. Everything defaults to extremism with no checks and balances, a nuanced discussion seems impossible.

It feels like the whole thing is spiralling out of control, and so many people are happy about it. Lately I've been feeling more and more depressed, like I feel these people used to have something in common with me, and I guess it just makes it all the more alienating that they still kinda do. It feels like watching a friend become possessed. And I know my views have changed too, obviously I wasn't always involved in men's rights, though I definitely always felt gaslighted about the idea that my sex gave me any sort of power (I've spent most of my life feeling utterly powerless and with no clear path to success in any area). I'd like to think I alone am the one human immune to breaking with my rationality under pressure but I think it is possible that if I thought all the left was like that I could've shifted into right wing views not because they made sense but because I felt betrayed by the left and accepted by the right, and because we shared some views like free speech and the importance of fathers.

So it's a fantastic thing communities like this exist, and other moderate, rational leftists like Bret Weinstein (I've really found his podcast insightful, though he's not super conscious of men's issues). Small as this group is, it makes me feel like there's hope for the left wing as a movement, for economic reform, for rational policing and prison reform, for egalitarianism, men's rights and worker's rights, for medical services for all, for freedom of speech and thought, for open and critical debate, and a more sane, just world. Even if I say something here that I am wrong on, I feel that the members are more likely to politely debate me with the best evidence they havd then resort to slurs, mob judgements and ostracization, which makes it a great environment for learning and truthseeking. And as a man, I feel like people here understand my struggles, my experiences, in a world where they are otherwise demonized.

I was very happy to see it hit 2k members and I hope it gets to 5k or more by year's end, and can become a beacon of hope for lost left leaning people who feel discarded and rejected, or worse, by the radical madness growing day by day by people we once thought of as on the same mission with.
