I agree that this sub is one of the best assimilations of masculism on the net.

To speak on some of the points that you mentioned: I personally don't think we should underestimate the severity of many men missing out on romantic relationships with women, it's an emotional need of men. And bucking aside the talks of men's struggles in dating through political correctness only undermines men's space for progress.

menslib is just pro feminist and they control almost everything on there very strictly. More pro women than men.

r/MensRights is much more active and has some good points but with that also comes some irrational hate and toxicity, similarly to women-oriented subs like r/AskFeminists , r/TwoXChromosomes , etc.

There's also MisandryFreeFemAllies. I haven't been on there in a while because it seemed like they were still getting up and running. But I hope more anti-misandry womens-issues groups take off too.

But yeah, the depression thing isn't unusual for any sub focused on social issues.

It's why it's generally a yellow flag if someone is talking about how they are afraid to leave the house because men are lurking in every corner, then they mention they binge true-crime shows.

It's like...as far as your brain is concerned, like 50% of social interactions you've had with men has been with serial killers.

You need to balance your feed with other issues as well, or with posts of right-wing people saying stuff so unbelievably dumb or bad that it's like "O shit. They weren't generalizing towards me per se, they were complaining about these pricks". Which helps recalibrate things.

Also I feel like the "guys not getting laid" theme is an interesting issue of its own. I don't think guys are as sex-obsessed as they might think they are. It's just that a whole bunch of issues contribute to it. And while the other issues cause depression and numbness, sexual frustration nags like a bot fly nesting in your ear.

So all of that sense of social rejection, lacking a sense of belonging, feeling like you are never enough, feeling like you don't have value beyond your stats, feeling like people fear you (that's my big one), etc all funnels itself into "I can't get laid". Which in turn intensifies the other issues.

Then you have people that try to sell you books or teach you what a "real man" is like you get with the Tater Tots. You get someone who says "I will actually acknowledge the things you are struggling with", then follow it up with "it's because you need to be an asshole like me." Which takes anyone with a conscience and starts disassembling their brain.

In the US there are already ways to change things, they're enshrined in law.

Many men simply don't use them, unfortunately this includes myself. I am only getting into it now because I have a personal vendetta against my state's DMV, and it has nothing to do with men's rights or issues as far I know. Before this I just had different priorities.

-You can simply write/email your politicians, and any political candidates, about concerns and issues. This is at all levels of the executive and legislative branches, not just local, but local politicians do have more power than we credit them for.

-You can/should look up policies for any questionable language.

-You can create lobbies to forward an interest, many European countries have banned that practice.

Despite complaints of corporations abusing the practice, less wealthy groups are also allowed to lobby.

-You can create a news business and get the rights of the press

You can sit in the Gallery and watch court cases, and report any questionable activities by the court, just make sure you are professional and follow Gallery etiquette, judges can have you removed even at the slightest hint of rude-ness.

-FOIA will give access to policies of any agency, even intra-workplace policy and records. It may involve some fees, but it is a method for whistleblowers. You can usually submit a rulemaking petition to request that such agency change policy, or add to them.

-if an agency isn't following a policy, you can also file a writ of mandate to force them (if a judge takes the case). Or call the news and take to social media and, essentially, start a mob campaign.

-you can sit in on townhalls and other government meetings at most levels of the government, even participate most of the time.

Even in raising awareness, there's really only thetinman, romaarmy, and that one dude that focuses on black male rights, hardly a comprehensive media industry. The few websites that write articles don't really do much on their own, and don't always support the positions of the MRM.

-If you have the credentials, you can conduct your own research and experiments. You can actually do it without credentials, but it's alot harder.

-you can start a blog, blogger is free.

-you can go outside reddit, if you want to take that risk

+reminder, do not talk about women, do not talk about feminism, solely frame the arguments as issues of men alone, or men and the state. Even though we may find value speaking to one another about the unfair advantages women might get, it is only detrimental when speaking to the public.

When speaking to each other, remember that we all have different opinions on where the MRM should go, even down to issues like circumcision. These differences do not make anyone less of a supporter. Except for pill people and mgtows, they are no help whatsoever, you can't leave society and expect it to change.

Etc.

Be professional, don't use slang, don't use AAEV, use NAEV, and get any writing, including speeches, reviewed by multiple people of high intelligence and different backgrounds, including your peers, so you don't look like a lunatic.

I do agree although with that said, I really miss the AntiFeminists reddit. There are discussions I have tried to have here only to have them be deemed a low effort post and deleted. That's the only thing I do take issue here because sometimes I have put some effort in my discussion and it still gets deleted. There's been discussions that I have wanted to have on this Reddit but I have never tried because I know my track record of seeing them get deleted here has been higher than it has in other Reddits.

I tend to agree, but I am a little concerned with how easily the conversation turns to anger at ‘feminism’ and using the exact same sort of broad generalizations that are a huge problem when disingenuously used against any kind of men’s movements.

Some of my most reliable and sympathetic friends when it comes to gender based issues are feminists. Feminism is a situationally useful lens, and a lot of feminists have a pretty deep and nuanced view of gender.

It becomes a problem if it is used as the exclusive lens to view the world in all situations. The fact that tech CEOs and senators are mostly men doesn’t actually help a homeless man, but there’s an overemphasis on the top of the class hierarchy in many conversation.

But ‘feminists’ is just too broad a group to wholesale condemn in any productive way. Many people using that label just believe ‘hey, the people in charge of our society shouldn’t all be men’ and that is a stance that’s both morally good and factually a current problem.

We don’t want to be lumped in with far-right grifters, or conservatives believing in strictly traditional gender rolls. So we shouldn’t be throwing around ‘feminist’ like it only refers to the worst and loudest voices on certain issues.

It would be great if there was a widely used and more specific term people could use. For example, TERF is a term that’s been highly successful in distinguishing a toxic ideology that tries to hide under the umbrella of feminism. Girlboss feminism is probably the closest term I’d use for criticism, feminism overly focused on the elite.

But in general, it disappoints me to see such broad-brush criticism that drives off people who might otherwise be on our side.
