Eh, this place is a haven from white knights compared to Twitter.

In any case, I think it's because most people are bad at thinking for themselves. The media very much pushes a feminist narrative about the main enemy being the patriarchy. When you're a member of the political left who usually accepts what the media says, you're likely to become a white knight.

Because many men are raised from a young age to be white knights. It takes a lot to break away from this conditioning. This is one gender role most feminists are happy to perpetuate and they continue to do so (see for example, the HeForShe movement).

The insult "white knight" is quite subjective, just as "SJW", "alt-right", "incel", "pick-me" etc.

I've seen people online call others SJW for saying that racial profiling is problematic. "Alt-right" is applied to people like Joe Rogan. And I've seen the term "pick-me" applied to a woman who said she enjoyed giving her bf a blowjob. (Basically, anything a woman ever does that a man somewhere enjoys = "pick-me")

In a similar fashion, I have seen exchanges where someone said something actually sexist (for example, "what the fuck does a chick know about soccer" about a female panelist on a soccer TV show who is herself a player for the national women's soccer team), and then someone replies "wow dude we're not living in the 1950s anymore", and then this person was called a "white knight".

This is why I'm not a fan of such vague insults. It's not that there are no bona-fide examples of men who grovel and self-flagellate in an apparent attempt to show their virtue and gain the approval of women, but I need to know what kind of behaviors we are talking about exactly.

I think some guys feel the need to "stand up" or "right where they see there are wrongs" because this will give them some sort of positive social media credit for doing so. They're so desperate for any kind of attention, they will say something in the hopes that the woman being attacked might notice and give some sort of validation.

It's common for men to derive their self worth from their utility to women (and later children).

Men are the disposable gender so society doesn't grant them value for existing. This is hammered in to boys over and over again. If you want to matter you have to provide some value to others. Protecting and serving women is a tried and true method approved by tradcons and progfems alike.

Curtailed environment. Admins cracked down on unsavory communities in the mid 2010s. Believe it or not Reddit was a very different place before the 2016 election wrecked it. Hell, I was here on one of my first accounts back in 2010, and I remember the uproar when /r/fatpeoplehate got banned (one of the more popular subs at the time). Hell I remember /r/coontown and such. Now, of course; with help, things have shifted in the opposite direction and white hating subs are the norm.

Are there? There's a consensus that it's okay for a man to hit a woman in self-defense; I don't think that would be the case if there were a bunch of white knights here.
