Yes he should have dumped her. Is he trained in treating schizophrenia? No? Then he’s not responsible. He’s not even related. If anyone deserves criticism, her family possibly failed to intervene effectively. She should have been committed when she went off the rails. She had meds so that means she was seeing professionals and was under their care. They definitely failed her.

Also, schizophrenics often don’t take their medications. Many require oversight. Why was there none?

Source: plenty of personal experience. A close relative is a diagnosed schizophrenic.

First, seek counseling, it sounds like you need it. In the meantime I don't see any quick solution to this problem. You could emphasize to your family that your ex was schizophrenic, and perhaps get them to understand she made it all up. Unfortunately everyone is going to believe her because she is a woman and a perpetual victim. It is the politics of the time. My reaction would be to say screw you all, and I would cut everyone off. If I could, I would move out of town, and not tell anyone where I was going, nor would I give anyone my phone number. However, that is what I would do. You have to find what's best for you.

I would, at the very least, sue the employer for wrongful termination. Not with the intent to necessarily continue employment there, but to perhaps go for a cash payout so you can start again somewhere else.

Better than staying someplace where everyone knew about her issues , but still blame you when she eventually blows a gasket.

That's the consequence of not letting go of strange women when your gut is telling you something doesn't add up. The rule must be: a girlfriend should be allowed to make a mistake 3 times. First, second and never again. Not following this costed me 20 years of my life ruined by a psychopath and 2 parentally alienated children.

Now, losing all the friends after telling your side of story also doesn't add up. Either they are no friends or something is wrong with you. In any case, standing firm behind what you know is true, if you didn't do anything wrong, is paramount. Others people and their opinions are irrelevant. The best you can do is look for a job and work out. Forget about whining on the internet.

I had an ex in my mid-20's that seemed amazing at first, but eventually her mask came off and I saw the serious mental issues she had. She started to regularly pick at my "triggers" for lack of a better term, causing regular arguments. Eventually this escalated to her threatening to harm herself over even the smallest shit, like not agreeing on what TV show to watch. This would terrify me and she knew it, and honestly that terror kept me with her way longer than I should have. Eventually I started to play her own game back at her, the only difference was when I started to pick at her triggers she just got all mad and left almost immediately. It made me realize how one-sided our relationship really was pretty much the whole time. The only silver lining was when she left, I never heard from her again.

Fast forward to now, and I'm in my mid-30's and have put a lot of work into myself, seeking self-help and professional help resources, doing what I need to do to grow. And her? Pfft, she's on Twitter, has purple hair, and is constantly complaining about her anxiety and loneliness while retweeting far left crap about how big daddy government should save us.

Tldr: Yes avoid crazy, and don't ignore warning signs for any reason.

Man this hits home so hard as I've been through exactly the same thing, but with DV in place of the Schizophrenia. She was about 22lbs heavier than I was. I was just 110lbs and this was pre-RP. Imagine the damage she did.

Could be describing my ex. Threatened suicide because of regret on new years, and I simply told her, "Not my problem. Fuck off." And that was that. Luckily she doesn't live or work near me (I hope) and we have no mutual friends. Been two weeks of silence, still not sure how she got my number again, but what happens is all on her and her poor choices at this point. I've got my own crap to deal with.
