You are responsible for your child's welfare but your child is not your property and you are not entitled to do whatever you want to him. You are making a permanent alteration to your child's body. If circumcision is such a rational decision why do you have to do it to a child who is incapable of reason? if you believe it so rational you would surely have no problem waiting till they are of age and talking with them about it.Imagine arguing for some other alteration to a childs body. like tattooing a picture of jesus onto a child's thigh - which is not even their most intimate area.
