If i have a son especially, hes going to learn physical training, MMA, and im going to be hard on him in a loving way as my father was before me. There is something about violence and learning about violence that can humble a kid, once you get slammed or tapped, or eat some body shots, all that attitude just dissapears.

I am just here to echo this, I think physical training and MMA is essential to every man from an early age. My BJJ blue belt was harder to get than my entire Bachelors and Masters in Science and the blue belt was more meaningful.

Military school used to be a common threat for parents. Honestly a lot of guys are wired for natural combat. No wonder the kid is confrontational, he's probably an evolutionary spearman and he has no outlet. We drug these kids and sedate them nonstop instead of bringing out their talents.
Kids who get into fighting usually say it feels right when they first get that good clock-cleaning. It's like the voice of mother nature when you catch your breath, everything's achy, adrenaline taking the edge off, pushing yourself to get back up and get hit again.
It's the baseline of humanity, no matter how peacenik we get.

Which is why I am teaching my son a little bit of what I learned in the military and from study of human anatomy and physiology (a former hobby I want to pick back up). It gets him hyped for a bit. Then once he takes it too far I humble him and he is well-behaved and quiet for the rest of the day. It is definitely calming him down.

Welp, gonna add that the fact that many guys here clearly don't have kids, and with all due respect, it shows.
I have a bunch of boys. And 1 with ADD. Let me tell you that they're all disciplined, the perfect picture of politeness and civility. Not going to talk specifics, but let's say that my pimp hand has always been strong in relation to raising my kids.
But the ADD son is simply another creature entirely. Growing up, he caused me more frustration than all my other sons combined. And I mean that literally.
Now, I'm not going to say that the OP couldn't have used a stronger hand. But I will say that most of the comments here are utterly lacking in sympathy. And the idea that the kid simply needs a beating or needs to be shipped to military school, or needs MMA, or whatever is just dumb. Just really ignorant.
Note that I'm not talking about a kid that couldn't sit still for a few minutes in class and the teacher found it easier to just drug. The first time I took this son to a specialist, he almost made the guy crazy, and he said, exasperated, "Oh my, you have a lively one!"
Today, I consider this son, at age 20, housebroken. But he still has problems with impulse control and responsibility. Things my other sons mastered at a much earlier age.
So really, a bit more sympathy is in order here. Not saying he can't improve things, but these ignorant comments are not much better.

Okay so other kids need different methods, a different approach, more time, etc. That makes sense. Most in the comments suggested things like MMA, boot camp, etc. is because most often that is what helps boys. He still needs a beating though. Any other points?

True to a point. I turn 61 this week. What I valued 40 years ago is a lot different then what I value now.
I was OP didn't really think of having kids one way or another. Ended up with two. Besides getting divorced they are the best thing that ever happened to me. I just can't stand hearing about women who go out of their way to take a father away from her children, usually out of spite or selfishness.

I sympathise with the guy. Its a lot worse than my position but I see so much of myself in it. And, likely, just like me, he will deal with the consequences. He knows he made a mistake, just as I do, but men face up - or fucking well should face up - to the consequences of our actions. I'm not abandoning my kids and he, likely, will not either.

I am in the same boat. 13 year old has odd. Although I am a very strict dad, he tends to keep in charge. 9 year old daughter can't sit still and last one has a genetic issues which makes his ligaments way to soft.
With me the kids are behaving but with the ex they are not so nice.
I was convinced that kids are so easy and fun. But in laws and ex-wife.
Should have stayed with my instincts and said no kids for me.

I've been in schools with tards and let me tell you guys. No beatings or violence works on tards. Tards will be tards, you need a lot of money and time to make them behave in a sort of acceptable way and even then they will be nothing more than a pain in the ass.
We need to shoot tards once we figure them out. You can fix rough kids with violence, but actual tards can't be helped. When brains malfunction on that level, that thing just isn't human, it's like horse you're supposed to shoot to put it out of its misery.

ODD is more of a parenting issue than most people will admit no its not a put them in a structured discipline environment outside of the home (MMA, boot camp) since those are not what they used to be. He needs to have that in the home. He would have to make the actions not worth the punishment until the kid learns self control and a GOOD therapist or someone the kid can rationalize through their actions with to have them learn how to recognize the thought patterns that lead to their actions and how to break them.
