Ah, okay, I get it. I guess I was partly being too much of a smart ass (as perhaps evidenced by the down-vote on my comment), since obviously everyone in the world can hear about the glorious/inglorious actions of our president. I just care so little about US politics despite living in the US, that it makes me wonder why anyone would care about US politics when they live in an entirely different country.
But I suppose that's naive, because the actions of the US government do have a tendency to influence many other parts of the world. Perhaps for not much longer, if all the 'US is in decline' folks end up being correct.

I've lived in the US, and expect to continue living in the US. I suppose I really ought to pay closer attention to US politics, but only out of a sense of needing to be a responsible citizen. Caring about politics doesn't come naturally to me, and I suppose I should feel a sense of guilt about that (I don't, but I might start paying more attention to politics despite that).
It's nice to hear that people still think of the US as being a good destination to want to emigrate to. Not too long ago my ancestors lived in Europe, so it's not like my family has lived here forever. Not sure where I stand on that borders thing, except to say that having a completely open border is probably not the best idea, and that we should instead have some rules for what constitutes legal immigration. For example, if (A) someone is actively running around talking about overthrowing our government, or harming people or property in the US, yeah, we probably don't want them to immigrate. But if (B) someone is willing to learn about our system of government, and bring with them some skills that are in demand and/or something else of value, then why wouldn't we want that person?
If you're one of the 'B' people, and I suspect you are, then good luck, I hope you accomplish your goal by coming to the US, and I hope it turns out to be worthwhile.

You don't really have to care that much about politics, since it tends to be a toxic subject that can and will destroy even the strongest friendship.
I do not support open borders at all, unless there's suicidal feelings in the population (/s), but seriously speaking, an open border is haven for all kinds of immigrants(legal and illegal) but can and will be a living hell for the native citizens of the country.
Look at Canada for example, or some parts of Europe as Sweden, where they told women to not go out late at night alone because they could get gangraped.
It was 2017
A successful country needs successful citizens, and if an immigrant wants to get in, they have to be at least capable of working and not be criminals/ have a psychological problem.

In a perfect world, we wouldn't need to care about politics. Unfortunately, our world is highly imperfect, so my attitude of 'ignore it until it goes away' is probably irresponsible. I'll likely mainly continue to focus on just me, my job, and the small number of friends and family who are a positive influence in my life. Personally, I think the assassination of Abe Lincoln would be near the top. Had he been in charge, he and the radical republicans in power after the civil war would have done reconstruction way better than Johnson did.

Estimated at 10 billion a few years ago, and you're being naive if you're one of the idiots who thinks he's not a billionaire. The amount of assets and resources that he has is beyond insane. It's not all in cash, but he has money everywhere. Estimated that he lost a LOT due to his presidential run, and not due to overspending.
I don't remember the exact numbers, but he spent a fraction of what Hillary spent and still won by a very sizeable margin. Beating the establishment, a "shoe in" candidate, the media, and being the laughingstock choice, yet spending less than anyone else and coming out on top? Just amazing.

I recognized the quote as originating with Trump. It is true that he is rather controversial. To me it seems as if people absolutely lose their freaking minds about how rabidly pro-Trump or anti-Trump they can be. For me, I just can't seem to get that worked up about him either way.
The '#MeToo' issue is of particular interest at the r/MGTOW subreddit, because MGTOW is a lifestyle choice taken by a group of men who are skeptical of women's behavior, for a wide variety of reasons. Many but not all men who follow the MGTOW lifestyle decide (sometimes after lengthy or costly divorce or other messes) that women are too dangerous to their financial and emotional health, and decide to avoid them entirely (the smart ones learn indirectly by observation; the dumb ones like myself learn directly through personal experience). I'm not particularly good at the 30 second 'elevator speech' so if you're in any way interested, just do some further research.
My point was that r/MGTOW is (to understate this a little) skeptical of women, and therefore your words weren't likely to ever be received the way they might somewhere else. It's not a political thing, it's a 'women are placed too highly on a pedestal by society' thing.
