This is the result of women flooding a male dominated area for attention. Eventually it'll no longer be cool to wear thick-rimmed glasses and talk about the next character that should be made female. When that happens the industry will crash, all the excess fat will be trimmed (hamplanets) and we'll start seeing good comics again that are geared for the average comic book reader (nerdy dudes).

This frustrates me a lot even as a minority man who would be accepted into these kind of events for a lot of reasons. Many of my mentors and closest friends fall into this group and it's just not fair.

I get how much it sucks to be shat on , discredited, or disrespected for not falling into a certain demographic of people but the way to fix that isn't to flip the table and now decide we're going to hate and exclude those very same people or even worse the sons of that generation of people .

so much of this pro-diversity shit seems to be turning into segregation the opposite way and if that's the case then our world isn't changing at all , the demographics are just shifting. Hate, racism, and sexism is still hate, racism , and sexism even if you change the roles of the parties involved.

This is disgusting and I don't know how anyone who loves their craft and ALL contributors of it could possibly be able to support this type of bullshit.

Having been to a few conventions thanks to a nerdy ex-gf, the main audience of these things are really mentally ill. Depression, autism, anxiety, etc. No normal amount of healthy people at all. So it's no surprise that this has occurred because honestly, there are probably very few straight white males even at the comic con to begin with. They all probably identify as asexual, pansexual, gay etc.

These conventions don't really need to exist in my opinion for several reasons. Pre-internet era things like conventions and swap meets were important. Nowadays not so much and this type of thing has become toxic and unhealthy so it might as well go under.

The weirdos benefit from their networking events and get a kick out of playing dressup so of course they don't agree.

Nerdy organizations such as comic-con have been usurped by Hollywood. It happened at the beginning of the decade and sucked the life out of the con atmosphere. Now SJW bullshit has been ferried in as the culture around comics and games becomes more and more mainstream.
