Keep in mind that's from 2006 -- 12 years ago -- "SoyMilk" sales have increased exponentially in the decade+ since (particularly in certain parts of the country,* and in certain specific "applications/venues"... like school lunch programs, college "food courts" and "coffeehouses" {that may NOT actually be real "milk/cream" they're adding to your cappuccino, even if you DIDN'T ask for "soy"}).

Also, while the stuff is sold as a "premium" product at Premium PRICES...

Here's the reality of the actual cost.**

So called "soy milk" -- which is NOT "milk" -- is anything BUT a "premium" product, and in fact is a "byproduct" (i.e. WASTE)... being peddled to the ignorant/gullible masses at MASSIVE profit margins.

* Go ahead, take a wild guess where.

** When is the last time YOU saw "Soy Milk" priced at LESS than regular (real dairy) "Milk"... much less at 1/7th the price?

Guarantee you if you had (or even COULD obtain*) a more detailed breakdown -- say down to the county/provice/metropolitan level.... you'd find it to be even MORE illuminating than the above -- which is "national aggregate averages."

* Highly unlikely any such data exists, or could even be reliably estimated** at least in terms of the "supply" side of the equation: soy is generally not eaten as itself, rather it is invariably included as an "additive" ingredient in a rather wide variety of "processed" foods.

** About the closest one MIGHT come is acquiring data on consumption of things like (tofu/soy protein based) "veggie burgers" etc. -- but there, the conclusion is already blatantly obvious; it's going to be heavily concentrated (i.e. several times, probably an order of magnitude higher relative consumption) in various "urban" areas, and particularly among those who consume "institutional" food services (i.e. schools, prisons, various franchise restaurant & "fast food" chain products, etc).

The (medical) jury is still out on soy. The mass consumption of soy today is a large and uncontrolled medical experiment. Humans have never consumed large amounts of soy. Even Asians used it as a condiment. Because it is cheap to grow, ag business promoted soy heavily over the last few decades as a health food. In truth, most North American soy (over 90%) is genetically modified and soaked in RoundUp. Because it is cheap it is in literally every packaged food. The only way to avoid it is to make your own healthy meals from scratch. Look how soy oil is made (Wikipedia). "To produce soybean oil, the soybeans are cracked, adjusted for moisture content, heated to between 60 and 88 °C (140–190 °F), rolled into flakes, and solvent-extracted with hexanes. The oil is then refined, blended for different applications, and sometimes hydrogenated."

Do you want to put that in your body? Or soy "milk" for that matter? this shit is produced in factories with tons of processing. It isn't natural and no one is going to convince me it is healthy anytime soon.

Im going to take some convincing that the uk leads Europe in soy bean consumption. We eat baked beans and that's basically as far as we go down bean alley.
