Actually everyone knows, whether consciously or subconsciously, that having female leads hijack franchises with male leads originally is a stupid idea.

If you're Red pilled, you know it's some bullshit politicization. If you're not, you still intuitively know that it feels sort of forced, unnatural, and unnecessary.

If they truly want to empower women, come up with original franchises with female leads, like Charlie's Angels, Hunger Games, etc. Let these franchises fail or succeed by their own merit instead of trying to piggyback off the success and goodwill of established male-led franchises.

The fact that Terminator 1 and 2 are still selling in DVD format prove the above statement to be incorrect. It is not terminator movies that people do not care about, it's these particular terminator movies that people do not care about.

I still watch both Terminator 1 and 2 at least once a year, and every time I still find them entertaining and exciting. Therefore, the writer of the article has either failed to grasp the reason these last 3 terminator movies have bombed, or they are aware of the reasons but are in denial.

I Watched it. It was... okay. Arnold Schwarzenegger was pretty good, but he was literally the only male main character. It had such an unnecessary amount of feminism in it, and that isn’t what terminator is meant to be. Terminator is about to be this badass huge guy who needs to fight a more powerful guy. But this movie was just about how a little girl learned to be strong with the help of two more female leads, so unnecessary and stupid

I remember being a teenager in the late 90s and my friends and I would geek out over what they might do in a Terminator 3 someday.

Then they made it and I was like "huh...that...exists."

Then compared to everything that came after that, T3 wasn't so bad. It still sucks, though. T1 and T2 are the only ones that were necessary.

I wish I could travel back in time to my 1990s self and say, "You'll be disappointed, don't watch them." I've watched them all. But never Dark Fate. And never Terminator, never again.

SPOILERS AHEAD...

I saw the movie and the backlash about it being SJW/woke is unjustified IMO. The three female protagonists quickly realize they're no match for the new Terminator and have to run away. They really don't even try to take on the new bad guy until they've got a big strong man (Arnold) to back up their ideas.

The new younger Sarah is completely useless and falls to pieces when bodies start dropping. She only gets up the nerve later to fight the new BBEG, and then.... fails. She only survives, again, because the big strong man sacrifices himself to save her. And then there's the stuck door none of them can open and they need a big strong man to open it for them.

Cameron does female protagonists right, to include women's weaknesses... namely their physical ones... which the film highlights in juxtaposition to their combined strengths and tactics.

Tl;dr - the backlash against the film IMO is largely unwarranted and is a consequence of people being more fed up with woke culture than the film's actual shortcomings. You can also criticize the film for recycling old themes, some of which work and some that don't. I actually liked some of the directions they went in this respect. Bold moves that some may simply disagree with and be turned off by, which is fine as everyone has their own tastes.
