Well look at female dating strategy. A few of them aren't terrible man haters but alot of those women are nuts and post very toxic misandrist cringe posts/comments. Femcels i believe the term is? Anywho, you will at times see the male version of that here which is the incel. When those post/comment and go way overboard it makes the whole sub look bad. One rotten apple spoils the bunch. Even if you are not MGTOW, but a rational male... You can easily look at the marriage and divorce statistics to understand the underlying concept.

45-50% marriages end in divorce.
90% are no-fault divorces.
80% are initiated by women.
Assets are divided equally during divorce, irrespective of the higher earner. (75% cases its the man).
Women recieve custody in 80-85% cases.
97% alimony and 85% child support recievers are women.

Now... Look at the 55% marriages that dont end in divorce...
At least half are unhappy marriages.
Men is more likely to stay in unhappy marriage than women, due to fear of losing kids or money.(that is probably the reason women initiate more divorces)
Only about 20-25% marriages are somewhat happy marriages..

Even in those marriages, income is shared, housework is shared. Man works for 50-60 hrs per week, and comes home to do 50% housework and childcare. Yes, women do work too... But only half as many hours as man... Still complains that they are 'overworked'.

As a husband, you have no reproductive rights... You are liable to pay child support to any child born during marriage.. (Even if DNA test is negative). Your wife can use your frozen sperms even after divorce and claim child support.

If you ask your elders, "what benefit a man gets from marriage?"...
What are the expected answers?

Sex.
Kids.
Dual income/tax benefits.
Companionship.
Won't die 'alone'..

Let's break them... Sex and kids you can get without marriage too.
Dual income/tax breaks are useless if you lose more than 50% in divorce.
Companionship lasts only upto divorce.
And in 50% cases that you get divorced, you will anyways die alone.

If you combine the information above... Its pretty obvious that marriage is an extremely one-sided deal, if you are a man.

Apart from that consider how gender biased other marriage related laws are. Like DV laws, spousal rape laws, Dowry harrassment laws (in some countries)... You can be put into jail based on her words without any evidence..

The govt doesn't stop at marriages.
They also include cohabitation, promise of marriage, and in some countries even 'intent of relationship' as common law marriage.

The solution is simple--- Do not marry, Do not co-habitate. Avoid irresponsible sex with shady people... And viola--- you are a MGTOW...

Because - we're the "Bad Guys"
There are three words that describe men and having men around. Protect, Provide, Prosper.
MGTOW do not Protect, or Provide, and keep their wealth to themselves and only share at extreme discretion.

There is a term for the White Knight and what he does before it was a pejorative. It's the "Veil of Security" which is part of the "Social Contract" and by not upholding the Veil, we are "allowing women to come to harm" which is "Bad"
We do not have to be the ones who harm women, but instead not stepping in to harm the criminal men who do harm women. In many cases this is against the law to step in. However that is using logic to an emotional based problem. This does not work. Though this bind does result in another easy shortcut to us being the "Bad Men"

We critique women. And "Women are Wonderful" which is going against narrative. This is again, not a thing that "Good Men" do.

Reddit has a policy of no hate on the subs. It is also addressed in rule #1 here. There's a difference between being frustrated with the status quo or venting about the way things are and spewing misogyny. I think the mods on this forum do a good job of keeping MGTOW2 from becoming a MGTOW. At that point, who cares what "they" are calling it.

Honestly, it's because the core of mgtow ideology is the repudiation of basic gender relationships, with emphasis on how females, by intent or incident, are the cause of many male failures. It sounds good to want to separate one's self from the obviously broken societal relationships between men and women, but if resentment is the driving force, of course the ideology is going to be substantially represented by people that can be characterized as women haters.

To be fair, I agree with most of what mgtow says, because it's fairly obvious, but a great many people come looking for mgtow to feel vindicated in their resentment.

That's because there is a lot of misogyny in MGTOW. Not here on r/MGTOW2, thanks to the tireless work of our mods. But outside of r/MGTOW2, there are a lot of men who use the MGTOW space to vent their anger and disappointment at women, as though women owe them something. They think that standing there and pointing fingers at others means that they are going their own way. But that isn't going anywhere. Going your own way means leaving some baggage behind.

I stumbled across this subreddit when a post was shown to me on the Reddit app as “similar to /r/Vasectomy.” I decided to check it out because I’m curious about niche communities online. I’ll try to give you my unbiased viewpoint as someone who has some but little exposure to the MGTOW community and their detractors.

Some Men Who Go Their Own Way do so for positive reasons. They believe that their energy is better focused on self-improvement, self-love, and independence than on a long-term romantic relationship/partnership. It’s notable that I’ve noticed the heterosexual viewpoint here, but haven’t seen opinions or stories from openly non-hetereosexual men or people of other genders. I think that everyone in the community and also most outside of the community, even most detractors, would agree with the following phrase: “the most reliable person in your own life is yourself.” Therefore it would make sense to focus on bettering yourself before putting a huge amount of effort into a potential partner. MGTOWs decide to take this idea to another level, focusing on a lifetime of solo self-empowerment. I would love some direct input from community members new and old on these ideas in the form of replies to this comment or direct messages.

However, it seems that some MGTOWs choose the lifestyle for negative reasons. They or the people they listen to have had bad experiences with women for a number of reasons, some of which are in their control, and some of which are completely out of their control. I think that they believe that renouncing the idea of having a traditional long-term romantic partnership with a woman will regain some of the power that they’ve lost to a society that they feel has turned the tide against men as a whole. The problem is that of them write their personal stories in ways that make it obvious that they have a prejudice against women that they don’t know because of a resentment of or hatred for women as a group. Separately, the idea that a person can be “involuntarily celibate” is a different and more extreme idea that I haven’t studied yet, but there is definitely backlash to the idea, some people self-identify as incels, and it can’t be denied that there are some who identify both as incel and as a MGTOW.

That’s just my poorly-informed hands-on two cents. I’m sure that there are a number of well-informed and even academic opinions and studies on the matter.

Unfortunately a lot of men on here use MGTOW as an outlet to openly hate women, which is why I can't pull the trigger and join this sub. Also when I joined the last one I got banned from like a million subreddits (which is against the TOS but whatever).

I've always seen the MGTOW idea as male empowerment, and people hate male empowerment. Why? In our society, men are designated providers. If you have nothing to offer, no money, no job, etc, you are deemed worthless as a human. Every man has experienced this fact in some way whether they want to admit it or not. By Going Your Own Way, you are essentially saying it is not your job to provide for other fucking people. Because it isn't. And others will always hate you for not filling your "role" because suddenly you aren't useful to them anymore.

It's a strange world we live in where a man can prioritize his own personal conscious experience over money and sexuality and be consequently chastised and belittled for it. I see why some of the men on here are bitter towards women: women can do the aforementioned thing without judgement--in fact, it is considered empowering for them. Why shouldn't it be the same for men?

As if all that contributes to someone's value is their sexual relationships. It's caveman-type thinking, the result of a secular, materialistic society at work. It's a fucking ridiculous concept but every time someone calls you an "incel" that is exactly what they mean. That they view you as a slave, a piece of meat, and you should be working to provide for someone else instead of pursuing your worthless dreams and ambitions.

The simple truth is that we exist in an age where very few people bother to think for themselves and would rather accept the prepackaged narrative provided for them by political, educational, media and corporate elites on any given topic (COVID is another prime example). Anything presented as out of step with leftist orthodoxy is lustily vilified, especially when doing so often provides the opportunity to appear virtuous by broadcasting the "correct" opinion for others to see, no matter how disconnected from reality said opinion may be.

Ask these people how much engagement they've had with real MGTOW or how much time they've spent trying to understand it for themselves. I'm sure you can figure out what the response will be.

Finally, there's something profoundly unsettling for the collectivist blue-pilled types about people that choose to live on their own terms and refuse to swallow the bullshit. We make them question (even subconsciously) their meek acceptance of the incessant, incremental erosion of truth, liberty and justice they see all around them every single day. Deep down, they know there's something terribly wrong with society and where it's headed, yet lack the courage to even acknowledge that fact, let alone do anything about it. We don't have that problem and they hate us for it.

For several reasons.

MGTOW has a disturbing tendency to accumulate huge mobs of guys, unhappy with their lives, bitter over some events in their lifes and just frustrated guys, tending to blame everything and anything on feminists, modern marriage, government, system etc. Sometimes they are right, sometimes wrong.
MGTOW is not seen via society as productive subculture. And it is true, more or less.
MGTOW most extreme members tend to piss off happily married and mature people with traditional values, like myself.
MGTOW sometimes looks like echo-chamber, not unlike feminists subredduts.
MGTOW is concentrated sometimes on lamenting, swearing and crying over Men's Rights Issues, instead of actually pushing to fix that problems. Wich repulsed other MRA greatly.
MGTOW pisses of feminists, leftists, liberals, huge portion of LGBT and other woke people, who tend to be awfully loud on social media. That's why you hear the uproar.
MGTOW is mostly USA-EU oriented and does not take in account other places, except when they need to point out something outrageous for them.

Even I am new to this community (infact I joined the community the day I am writing this comment), and ofcourse, I joined this community after reading lots of articles, blogs, research papers and lot more (I am too a researcher, but in physics). Mgtow does have a valid rational when all around the society there are organizations, institutions and rules which are helpful for redressal of issues for women only. I am a college student, and in my college there is a site called "women cell" and another is "counselling cell" where 4 members are women and 2 are men, and its functionality is very limited due to very competitive atmosphere within the institution. I am absolutely not opposed to it since it is for welfare of the members, but then why there is nothing for "men". Much of the social institutions focus on the issues of women, and issues and insecurities of men are blantantly ignored. Social institutions are always ready to prosecute men for atrocities against women, but why there is no that kind of guarantee of security for men when they are in the victim side (simple drawbacks of feminism ). Mgtow is the fore-runner against such groups and social establishments. The real ideal is not to keep fighting, because it give them more reason to get themselves protection from society, but to target their weakest point, getting attention. joining mgtow requires willpower and strength to resist natural temptation to responding attention to the opposite gender. Beyond those temptations lies immense potential of mankind to live life to their fullest. But their lies the second reason that many of those (called 'incels') directly engage with the feminist groups in more negative way, and are always related and linked with this movement, leading to many regulatory actions against mgtow in all sites. But irrespective of the reputation given by so called 'biased' people, mgtow is much straight forward for straight guys, to instill a confidence in life without the "natural dependency" on opposite genders.
