I could have shared this on TRP, but this place feels more at home.

So I misread the weights while prepping squats and the 25lbs-ers were 35s. I was pleased that the extra struggle was due to 20lbs extra weight, but I pushed too hard. I should have rested properly. So today, did my 45 min run and pushed through pain. Problem was that when I was done, something didn't feel right. I stained a muscle in my leg. I'll be fine in a week.

Meanwhile, wife notices I'm walking funny. I'm doing my best to hide it, but she knows a lame animal when she sees one. I kept brushing it off. She came at me in many waves. Finally, when she said I didn't need to be "Mr ToughGuy" I buckled and admitted to the discomfort.

She got pissey. "Why do you lie to me? " And "Now I won't know if your hiding injury from me."

She kept going at it. Fuck it was nuts. I finally snapped at her to get of my ass. She got up and said she was going to bed because of my tone and grumpiness from said injury.

On her way up to bed she even slid "And I even helped you with the kids appointment cause i knew you were hurt"

My mind popped. Did she know? Yes? No? WTF? WHICH IS IT LADY?

So I let her win and stayed STFU.

Lesson learned: don't show weakness. And if she suspects, don't fucking admit it. DON'T ADMIT WEAKNESS. They are disgusted by it. They will not kiss you booboo and make smoochey-woochies. The V will dry up and they run from you with horror.

Oh, and I biked home in a snow storm with that bum leg. That shit about macho hero, pushing through the pain Herculese shit, vanishes when they see you're just a pretender Bata with a bum leg.

I'm gonna take it slow on the leg for a week, but I ain't gonna let it handicap me. I got other shit that needs working on.

TL;DR: Do not show weakness. Hide under a rock. Get your buddy to feed you anti-inflamatories. But STFU about injuries/weakness. Bite down on a piece of wood and smile.
