You can respond with a simple "I couldnt find my keys, so I took the new car". Then leave it at that. She will realize afterwards she was wrong. She won't tell you with her words, but body language will do the talking. You don't lose frame and set a precedent that "you will do as needs to be done. So deal with it".

I feel for you man I really do lol. In my early married days there were no cell phones and we had walls and walls of secretaries to keep the wife at bay during working hours.

Even when my wife and I came into texting, which btw I think one of the top ten greatest inventions of all time, I would often tell her "oh I didn't get that message" or "my phone never rang."

Just learn how to shut up and not say "how high?" when she says "jump."
