Based on the top-rated AskReddit question now (link in comments), I'm curious to know what MensRights thinks about women registering for the draft?

I don't think either should have to sign up, but if one does, both should to make it equal. It isn't right how if a man and woman did the exact same thing with the draft (both didn't sign up) he wouldn't have the same rights/advantages as she does. If women have less rights then men in other places (IE: they have to do things legally that men don't) then I can understand the draft, but as it stands, women don't have anything they solely have to sign up for, so why should men then have to sign up, and risk being sent off to risk their life? If women "aren't fit to be drafted" then women shouldn't be allowed in the military at all for that same reasoning. (to prevent /SRS from purposely misinterpreting me, I am not saying women shouldn't be in the military if they are equally as capable as men, just that if you use the excuse women aren't able to, to avoid the draft, then it should apply to joining the military in the first place.

I say no draft for either sex while actual combat role is fully determined by ability without regards to gender. If we need more soldiers, then offer more money that is currently being wasted on defense contractors who are delivering half-broken goods.

Pretty much everyone in r/mensrights and in reddit in general thinks that women should have to register or no one should register at all.

The difference between this subreddit and the rest of the site is that we are the only ones who care enough to do something about it.

It's a great idea for world peace. As soon as hundreds of women start coming back in body bags there will be such a public outrage that wars will become extremely unpopular.

Current US military culture is that even if they did require women to register and those women were drafted they would not get the same tasks as men who are drafted. In the case of a draft, those called up would be called up to fill a vital and undesirable role. Most of those roles in the military aren't issued to women anyway.

"requiring women to register" would only be relevant if they were also required to form all women platoons that also take on front-line combat roles. All women platoons because in the case of "coed" platoons, there would likely be combat effectiveness issues born out of the protecting nature of men of women.

I don't think anyone should have to be drafted. But until things change and the draft is completely rid of, then I do believe all genders should register and be allowed to serve.

To compensate for the long period in which only men have been drafted, we should have a period in which only women are drafted.

In an effort to be equal: if men must sign up, women should sign up. Women and men should be in separate platoons to prevent men from dying as they try to save the women. Both should be on the frontline.

In an effort to win a war: only men need sign up. Women are naturally weaker, slower, have less stamina, women are not suited for combat, they are less confident of their skills, more realistic as to their limitations, more easily frightened, and women would simply be no match if the opposing side sends men.

I suppose the important question is whether the goal is to be equal or win the war...
