Can we discuss adding mandatory paternity testing to standard birth workups?

In the US, paternity fraud laws are rare.

While the biggest issues that can come from a paternity test being asked are hurt feelings, I feel during normal post birth workup that it would result in too many positives.

Tennessee has passed paternity fraud laws along with a civic suit to be followed up to recoup expenses.

Georgia requires a mandated paternity test for child support.

The general argument of “trust”, or “did the crime now pay” seems a moot point, anybody can lie, and years or decades can pass.

Many people that separate and end up paying child support make serious sacrifices at times too.

How is it that a woman can literally say your the father, bind it on a legal document, and there is a statute of limitations on paternity testing, all based on someone’s word before the subject may come up?

EDIT I find it ridiculous a woman can lie on a whim, and years later your screwed and can’t typically get out of it. I understand it’s in the best interest of the child, but seriously, that’s garbage. At that point you shouldn’t be legally liable to provide expensive insurance or child support, but can always choose to do so and be that father figure. Many instances the mother doesn’t use the funds toward the child or to increase quality of life.
