I'm not sure if this is the correct subreddit, but when talking to girls there's always been something that's struck me as a bit odd. The whole "You're so different from every other guy, you don't seem to only want sex and you're sweet ect." babble.. I get this a lot and I understand that they're trying to make some kind of compliment but I really don't see how it is.

It seems like a very ignorant and stereotypical comment and quite hypocritical, considering they themselves might often complain about such comments from men stereotyping women, which is often the case. I don't see how insulting my entire gender can possibly be perceived as a compliment, even if I'm the one "Exception".As a result I find it extremely annoying and often try to counter argue it. This leads to them in turn, also getting annoyed and finding me to be unappreciative of the "Compliment".

My question is, does anyone else here face this issue and what should I say when I encounter it?
