Is this a joke? Github is a software development tool widely used by professional software developers across the world.

After a bit of digging I found the reason. GitHub has been has been doing a complete overhaul lately, many top execs have left along with the majority of the original developers. Basically your general PR stunt to try and reverse the companies image from their disastrous accusations of sexism and harassment (The story from the accusers: http://techcrunch.com/2014/03/15/julie-ann-horvath-describes-sexism-and-intimidation-behind-her-github-exit/). She admits herself that she contributed very little, much less than her male colleagues, yet expects to be promoted. It was mis-handled by the founder and his wife (once they learned she planned to go public), and one of the reasons why it blew up. But in the end if you aren't able to work with the team, and actively distance yourself from them, you can't expect to reap the rewards just because you are part of a fast-growing company. It's sad when the founder of a major company is forced to hand-over the reigns when something like this happens.

github was already doomed. The CoC they've adopted has the clauses:

No! Not Github! Fuck! Anyone remember when I actually specifically said can you imagine how bad it would be if feminists took over something like programming? Or something along those lines? This is exactly what I predicted. There is no way they'll even allow some very polite and basic criticism of any female coders, they won't improve because of that and everything will go to shit.

I swear, every time a feminist goes near an organisation like this they set women's rights back by several decades.

The SJW war on Ruby continues

Despite being warned off by members of the group, and despite the Ruby project founder making it clear that thought policing and enforcement is not going to be permitted, Typhoid Coraline has taken advantage of the founder's desire to be nice as he continues revising and spinning and attempting to take control of the project. This is his latest attempt after having the poison pill that is his Contributor Covenant knocked back...

...Notice how their priority is not the Code of Conduct, but the committee that is charged with enforcing it. This SJW is considerably clumsier than Typhoid Coraline, in that he openly states how the committee will be stacked by "members of minority groups" who, by their very nature, "will not violate the CoC". Remember, SJWs always set up rules that do not apply to them. They are above the law; laws are for those lesser people who are insufficiently idealistic.

The successful defense of Ruby against SJW infiltrators demonstrates the importance of having a strong project leader rather than a committee, or worse, a democracy, running an open source software project ... It's worth noting that this not only defeats the primary, secondary, and tertiary purposes of the Code of Conduct that Typhoid Coraline was attempting to install in order to unseat Matz, but it can obviously be used effectively against SJW entryists. No wonder Typhoid is so upset. It's a superficial victory of absolutely no utility for him.

Initial SJW Attack Defeated

Notice the First Law of SJW at work: the initial suggestion is that the Code of Conduct is simply about being nice, and that there is nothing controversial about it. But then, the moment that anyone objects, the fact that there is controversy only proves the need for this uncontroversial policy to be implemented. And then notice how, although the Code is said to be about nothing but feelings, it needs "teeth" and private enforcement in order to be "tenable".

One of those who successfully resisted the initial entryist attack, PHP project member Paul Jones, explains in detail why the Code of Conduct is nothing more than an SJW weapon used to exert political control over an OSS project:

The Code of Conduct as presented enables its enforcers to stand in judgment of every aspect of your public, private, professional, and political expression. I understand that’s a bold assertion; I will attempt to support it below.

The Contributor Covenant version on which the RFC is based is authored and maintained by intersectional technologist and transgender feminist Coraline Ada Ehmke. Ehmke believes that open source is a political movement:

From the onset open source has been inherently a political movement, a reaction against the socially damaging, anti-competitive motivations of governments and corporations. It began as a campaign for social liberty and digital freedom, a celebration of the success of communal efforts in the face of rampant capitalism. What is this if not a political movement?

Why Hackers Must Welcome Social Justice Advocates

Whether or not this description of open source is accurate, it is true that Ehmke thinks of open source as a political arena. As such, one must read the Contributor Covenant as a political document, with political means and political ends. Specifically, it is a tool for Social Justice.

Notice how the SJW Coraline had been a member of the Ruby project for all of two days before proposing the Code of Conduct there.
