The fun part? She wasn't even convicted, but let of scot-free after a short evaluation in a psychiatry. And he was later put in jail after striking another woman (though it was a short stay, he was convicted). So I guess a woman can cut a man's penis off and receive less punishment than a man who strikes a woman.

During the trial she made claims he was abusive, raped her, etc. The jury believed her and all the experts did too, describing this act as a temporary insanity caused by his treatment of her.

Dude later became a failed singer and appeared in porn movies. This case is just bat-shit crazy looking at it from any perspective.

But even crazier than all that is this stupid feminist propaganda of glorifying these actions of violence against men, putting a spin of "female empowerment" on them. Not to mention that most up-voted comments are golden examples of what misandry looks like and that says just about everything about media and current general consensus regarding gender issues.

And the things that stood out to me regarding the alleged rape:

Being a shitty lover seemed to turn into being a rapist.

And then this part further hurts her credibility:

"One of Lorena's former co-workers testified that Lorena once said she would chop off her husband's dick if he cheated on her. Witnesses testified that Lorena was mean, violent, and subject to jealous, unpredictable physical attacks."

Everything that feminists bank on for their defense of her is flimsy as fuck.

My mother considers herself a feminist (in basically the-women-can-do-no-wrong sort of way). I remember when I was 14 she made a reference to this case and laughed while she described Bobbit cutting off her husband's penis.

Even as a 14 year old girl I remember feeling sickened and telling her how fucked up I thought that was. "I understand she was abused and that's not right. I feel badly for her. But I still don't think it's justified for her to cut off his penis. I don't think it's fair that she could plead insanity and I don't think she shouldn't be punished at all." My mother responded that I was wrong and I'd understand when I was older.

Well it's 12 years later, now I'm older and I still agree with my 14-year-old assessment of the situation. It's horrifying. And it's fucking terrible that not only is it "okay" but so many people think it's acceptable to laugh about! Is female genital mutilation hilarious? No? And did that mere sentence make you cringe? Then fuck you for thinking a man getting his penis cut off is justified or funny. Wtf.

Thank god my mom sucked already for a variety of reasons so I never felt compelled to assimilate her ridiculous world views. I shudder to think about how she was essentially trying to raise me as a tumblr feminist.

From everything we KNOW, Lorena was a POS for this stunt.

However, as MRA's... If what she says about John was true. That he raped and abused her on a constant basis... How would we or should we view what she did under those circumstances?

For me... Still worthy of being jailed, but I would understand and wouldn't be completely unforgiving over it.
