I was a victim of a false rape accusation. Fortunately, it happened before the advent of the internet and I obtained a declaration of innocence, so there are no records.

A woman made up a rape story to try and cover up an extra-marital affair when neighbors saw the other man leaving her home. Despite the fact that I was four cities away and being ticketed by a state trooper, I had to endure nearly four months of hell with the trial and incarceration. The police of the city where this happened tried nearly everything to force a confession from me, including threats of physical violence against my person and against my family.

When the case went to trial, the DA and judge refused to allow the state trooper's testimony into the record until my lawyer forced the issue by appeal to the state court. The trooper's testimony clearly established my not being a viable suspect, so finally they had to declare me "not guilty." But then I had to sue the jurisdiction and the state to have me declared "innocent."

After all of the insanity, I lost both of my jobs, my then girlfriend, and pretty much most of the friends I had in my town. The whole thing nearly drove me to suicide and my family poured tens of thousands of dollars for therapy to help me adjust and recover. Even then, I had to leave home because I could no longer find work or maintain stable relationships with people because so many people were invested in me "being the rapist I was accused of being."

Two months after my trial was concluded, the woman came forward and admitted that she made up the story from whole cloth. There was no remorse or contrition from her; it just became no longer convenient for her to maintain the lie. I tried three times to bring a civil suit against this woman for ruining my life and finally, a person from the state clerk's office basically told me that I should just give it up, as the case would never make it on any docket in the state and if I should consider myself lucky that I got out without any "real" jail time. Furthermore, if I continued to push the issue, I might be "found guilty of something else."

Nevertheless, it has still scarred my dealings with both law enforcement and women. To this day, I will actively avoid being alone with a woman who I don't know or trust and even then, I try to avoid those situations. By some miracle, I did find a woman to love and have been married for 18 years, but she helps shelter me from a lot of what I fear in other women.

I joined this movement because nobody else seemed invested in helping me with this issue. There is nothing I would want more in this world than to see the system that supports this insanity burn.

That is why I'm a Men's Rights Advocate and Supporter.

Because nobody deserves to live in fear; neither men nor women.

For years I have been sick of seeing men portrayed in TV shows and commercials as the bumbling idiots, and women the complete opposite. Whenever there was a dispute between the man and woman, the man was always wrong, and it was always the man, that was kicked out of the bedroom. This merely opened my eyes to the issue, but I had no idea there was a MRM. It wasn't until a friend got me into reddit, and I saw articles hit the front page did I become aware of this place. Now it is my top reddit.

My father was homeless/jail due to divorce and child support payments.
I hated feminism since I was 6yo, since my feminist mother (which I love) only seemed to care that I'll respect girls, never told me to demand respect for myself, how to be a man... etc.

I had to unlearn the feminist crap on my own and to understand that being strong and dominant man is not a bad thing, but a great thing that I like to be (and that attract women).

It took me allot of time to learn to be a man. Even though now I am very happily married and a father, in many ways I am still learning how to be man.

I... don't know what got me interested in Men's Rights, actually. Since I was a teenager I've felt that there were things "off", that women could get away with things that I couldn't, etc. I never really put much thought into it, however, although I'd make comments here and there when topics of discrimination came up. The biggest two things for me were in college, when I had to take two social sciences as "core curriculum". I ended up taking Sociology and Marriage & Family.

In the Sociology class, it was pretty evident that the instructor was a pretty strong feminist. We spent the first few weeks going over female discrimination, and one of the days she was going over how females were less likely to be hired and got paid less when they did. I asked in class if she thought there were mitigating factors (pregnancy, family) for the first issue. After all, it seemed to me that companies WOULD be less likely to take a woman, especially if they knew she was getting married soon, because it would mean that she might plan on having children, which would disqualify her from some work right out (and then maternity leave, etc.), whereas for men, that same situation would have no impact on their working life except perhaps make them work HARDER to try to support their wife and child. I also questioned her payment statistics and asked what factors had been included (experience, qualifications, etc.). You would have thought I had killed somebody in the class. She chewed me out for the next fifteen minutes going on about how there were no mitigating factors that would explain the statistic, how the pay study was an equal comparison of all men and women, how society is so sexist to women, etc. I stopped attending that class after that lesson, other than for test days.

The Marriage & Family class was much the same, although I never got into a disagreement with the instructor. We covered DV, divorce, rape, all kinds of programs and issues for single mothers, etc. Issues that men had were never mentioned whatsoever. I also stopped attending that class other than on test days.

That aside, I never actually sought out a "Men's Rights" group to discuss issues with. I wound up here after seeing a comment along the lines of "TIL r/mensrights exists", and I've been here since.

Parental abuse of a sexual manner, though mainly emotional. Not believed or really helped by female therapist. Parents divorce wasn't great either, it definately did them no favours, idiots. Dirty looks when I'm with my son (no neck beard). Envy of all the resources there to help women and girls that aren't there for men and boys. Worry over sons schooling.

Really feminism just seems to be the latest violence and ignorance we are inflicting on ourselves. Everywhere has it's shortcomings, but I hope the west eats itself.

Guys and Girls, thank you for these , we have all come here because we have seen pain in ourselves and others, its not to do with hating women , or defending the bullshit notion thats the patriarchy , I hope any of the amr crowd who are trolling read this and actually try and understand why we are here, this many dissenting voices of different genders, colours and creeds are not the voice of some faceless giant out there to abuse, we simply want to be seen as equals and be seen as having the potential to be good decent people.

I read a story about some guy self-immolating in New Hampshire; He left a manifesto detailing the horrors of the family law system. I've always thought feminists were full of shit; they don't support women or choice, they only support some women, and seem to believe the only way to gain is to take from men.
