Oh, look, another defense of a body shaming joke at the expense of men.

I get what Tinder was trying to do here, but they failed miserably at reaching the audience they intended to.

Something actually targeting women would actually reach them more.

Instead of making people more open minded about the impossible physical standards they require, they just managed to trigger a lot of people who have their own issues with their body...

If they want to reduce people swiping away people who don't conform to ideal body standards, they should just remove all these body identificators altogether... Boom, then no one can pre-emptively decline anyone based on them, because they actually have to at least engage in a conversation to find these things out...

[–]TFME1 28 points29 points30 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

They could have just said "All humans lie" (even if it's just to themselves) and left it at that. That would be accurate and cut through all the bs attempts at lame humor.

Nothing like giving women a pass on their crappy safetyist behaviors and allowing them to actually have preferences when men are being destroyed for their "sexist" preferences.

[–]pearl_harbour1941 87 points88 points89 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They billed it as an April Fool's joke, but posted it on March 29, three days before April Fool's Day. Sounds like they tried backpedaling after backlash.

Next year: "The new feature you always wanted: Tinder forces men to pay for every first date before you even swipe on them."

Year after: "Rise in unhappy single women is men's fault."

Putting in a taller height than you actually are is just pandering to the kind of women who use Tinder. You can put better cheese on your mousetrap, you're still only going to catch rodents.

[–]vwatchrepair 17 points18 points19 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's exactly what I thought. Like why would you do that to yourself. Men should just leave these dating apps en masse.

[–]Embarrassed-Lemon-69 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Which is why I use peanut butter.

[–]wineblood 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

To catch people with broken taste buds?

[–]Embarrassed-Lemon-69 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, I was making a terrible joke.

[–]TheeBattleMedic 21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Next it’ll do a small penis joke. At this point I just do the versus. If someone calls me boy I say okay girl( I don’t care but notice they like to say boy to imply your not an adult or childish) when they joke about small penis now it should be or you got a wide vagina. Please enter the correct height. Enter the correct weight, not how much you weighed in high school. But nope men are toxic and just gotta take the constant belittling otherwise we’re insecure. It’s ironic growing up if I said I’m handsome I was told I’m cocky and it’s not attractive but average girls saying their 10s are somehow “manifesting” and not delusional

[–]Starmind0 19 points20 points21 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

And then they always act like "angry men" isn't something important. Men's emotions matter. Their opinions matter.

[–]H20man1[S] 17 points18 points19 points 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Their only counter-argument to that will be that some guys 60-70 years ago were oppressive to women and now you deserve to suffer even though you literally had nothing to do with that oppression or those times.

[–]Starmind0 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even then, men are oppressed too and have been for centuries.

[–]copeharderhun 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Angry men" is the most ridiculous attempt at dismissing men's rights movements I've seen

The implication is somehow that men being angry about an injustice suddenly means the injustice doesn't exist. It's ridiculous. Er no... its precisely because the injustice exists that were angry. It's VERY valid anger.

Indeed I'm sure there were many "angry blacks" over their treatment in the 1950s. Does that suddenly mean that the civil rights movement should be invalidated?

[–]P_Blueblood 22 points23 points24 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

women need weight and age verification, because Landwhales, often old expired ones, are the most common thing...

[–]Icy-Start5536 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Children verification. No-make-up verification. Right-picture-angle verification. Notch count verification. Breast size verification.

Shall I continue?

From my personal testing it’s impossible to get a match with an attractive female that isn’t obese without model level catfishing

Age: 21

Bio: "Looking for a daddy to my three kids, aged 4, 3 and 1"

[–]P_Blueblood 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've compared tinder results to my friends back then from 2015 to 2019, apparently, a guy with 185cm height and slightly overweight, but rather buffed physique due to regular gym training would have matches with women numbering in the hundreds, and easily got them agreed for dates compared to the other guys who are either shorter or thinner, whom are lucky if they ever get a handful of matches, let alone with attractive enough girls.

[–]Beaver_Buster 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's probably some evolutionary reason to write shit like this to garner negative attention. I'm convinced this is just a troll for women who don't get attention otherwise. I think it's a bad faith trick to make you go "that's unfair" long enough to try to swindle you into some bad pussy.

Like the unnoticed lady performs some injustice publicly and then flashes some version of titties when she gets a response.

[–]jessi387 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

A body count verification might be funnier

[–]JTPish 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bruh, there are women I've met who have lost count once they go past a body count 30, or the numbers get fucky because they don't consider oral only as a notch, etc.

[–]jmcsquared 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Someone should so do this, report the reaction, and compare the two.

I mean we've got to point out this hypocrisy eventually.

[–]DeddestNash 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow the article literally just saying the guys who got offended by it have no sense of humour and don't understand double standards.

No I think they do understand double standards, no one said they don't think women get shamed for body size and other bodily appearances. But the real double standard is the fact that you can only make jokes in this topic about men and not ever women. Do they even know what the words they type mean?.

But yeah, imagine asking female accounts to re-enter their weight.

Hell let loose

[+]NetNeutralitee 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I think it’s kind of funny but I’m 5’9 so I’ve never had any issues with my height. I can see why short men would be offended.

[–]CambionClan 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

By female online dating standards, 5’9” is essentially a dwarf.

[+]NetNeutralitee 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Oh no the craziest portion of women won’t date me lol whatever will I do.

"Men are throwing tantrums over Tinder’s height verification joke"

Sure when men point out anti social behaviour its throwing a tantrum . Why is body shaming men OK? Is it not a toxic trait for us to allow ourselves be shamed like this?

Make up your mind society. Eithers its fine to shame us, and you dont want to have emotions or feelings, or its not and body shaming us should be condemed. Which is it?

[–]Cute_Needleworker916 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Written by a ☕️ of course.

[–]vhisic 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

ah the ole "its ok to do X as long as you do it to men"

[–]thehawaiianactivist 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That would definitely be dragged to court. Because we can be misandrist to men, but how dare you tell us a word! Rapists and misogynists!

[–]Gods_Own_Country10 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This Dailydot bitch thinks that these men don't have a sense of humor. Sweety, if approximately 50% of the population "didn't get the joke" then the joke is shit. It is basic common sense but she won't be able to use it until she puts her misandry to the side.

Also why is any guy still on this 'jack of all crap' Tinder? They have shown themselves to be misandrists time and time again. To be really honest, had they done a weight or body count joke, women would have destroyed Tinder online and boycotted it en masse overnight. That would have led to the company apologizing. Many men are pathetic simps to be still using Tinder and that's the reason they used the "It was a joke" card for Damage Control.

[–]short_dude5ft3in 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I own it. Being short is a super power if you know how to wield it.

The only thing you change is your own mentality. Would it stop them from using your height to shame, insult you? No, but it won’t have any effect on you.

[–]Livabetes99 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Next up: body size verification. For women only. Detaining everything, right down to cup size and waist-to-butt ratio. Wassa matter ladies? "No sense of humor"?

[–]WildGrave2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But,guys, he has given his consent. It is the need of the videoclip!!!

[–]Nervous_Scene_4890 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

The height shaming is so fucked up. There is very little you can do about your height, but ya know it is a little more in your hands whether your obese or not. So let's judge men on something they have no control over, but how dare they call us out for something we could actually do something about.
