Men aren’t going to be there for women in traditional ways and most feminists I know are losing their $hit over it.

Because "hate speech" was only designed to protect "minorities", and "minorities" aren't defined as "a minority demographic of a population", it is instead defined as "anyone who isn't a 'cis' white male".

[–]goinsouth85 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

And this is why I am glad the United States does not have hate speech laws, and is very unlikely, due to the 1st Amendment.

The enforcement of hate speech is inevitably discriminatory

[–]barndoor101 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

And also seemingly completely arbitrary.

[–]goinsouth85 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

True - I remember hearing on Lehto’s law that in Germany, the police were targeting people that liked anti-cop messages posted in a Facebook story about two cops that were killed as hate speech. I can think of no bigger reason for free speech than criticism of the government and it’s agents.

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, from what I remember of my American History classes, the primary reason for the 1st amendment was to prevent the government from punishing people that critize it.

[–]odysseytree 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because advocates against hate speech are mostly feminists and they omit men from hate speech laws.

because men are not a "protected group"

[–]rabel111 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And everyother person in the world is in a protected group!

People just don’t care about men at all. The same behavior is also performed by the mods of this subreddit. They allow women, feminists and misandrists to troll and harass men here but will ban you for speaking up against this typical behavior. Women don’t give a shit about us which causes the men to not care about other men.

Systemic sexism.

[–]_BlueShark87 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s because it’s not hate but liberating renouncing of their oppressors.

"Ms Mustafa defended the tweets (e.g. kill all white men), which she said were “in-jokes and ways that many people in the queer feminist community express ourselves” sent from her “personal account”.

So she acknowledges that hate speech targeting men is normalised in the feminist community. But that does make her a sexist pig and a racist.

[+]martinbv95 -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Mm. Because the laws reasoning is to protect especially vurneable groups. Nobody of state believes women would get anywhere promoting man hate or supression of men in a world dominated by men. Say men were a supressed group in a fictional society, the hate laws would matter much more

[–]killcat 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Sure, and THEY get to define who is a "vulnerable group" and it's NEVER straight white men.

[+]martinbv95 -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sure. The state picks the laws. In democracies though they like to believe it is based on the people. Which in reality is just the media, for so people believe they are the media. & So the media is represented in the law, by the state :-)

[–]rabel111 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hey, don't you like the feminist hate speech that promotes violence against men, when men are forced to go to war against their will and die horrble terrifying deaths, are humiliated for not placing themselves in the path of lethal danger to protect big mouthed feminist pigs, and have their genitals mutilated by religous fanatics and fashion conscious moms?

[–]Hoopaboi 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

What's your argument for male "domination" and why does possessing such "domination" justify hateful statements against this group?

I'm sure you'd agree Jews "dominate" Israel and black people "dominate" Nigeria in terms of power, does that suddenly make it ok to go full Nazi if I'm white and I post my Nazi shit while living in such countries?

If that's still not ok, why? I'd be a minority in such a country in that case.

[+]martinbv95 -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Dominate does not necessarily mean majority. As I recently learned in a Migration class, places where whites aren't the Majority, they are still the dominant people. What happens to be is that historically women have been subordinated to men. Now, most men might not be to blame.., but many women do not see it that way. The 'World' meaning society was created by men, to be good for men, without the thought of women, or blacks, or gays for that matter. The white man walked wherever he wanted and took what he wanted. An example is how in many High Schools, condoms! Which goes on the penis is given out for free, although yes, it protects both the active and passive part of the act. But Women bleed from a certain age, every month, and have to pay for what they need according to that. Men didn't create the women biology, but if the world had been created by women it would be safe to assume such things would've been free, and no one would have thought about creating urinals for men, per example. & So, hate is never justified, and an act of violence, even if committed by women are to be taken seriously by any court. But, the reason it often isn't is because men tend to be more physically enhanced than women, and men tend to be more violent. It is because any group of women, saying dominating and hitting men is right, won't be taken seriously by the still man dominated world. But, a man being hit by a woman once is one thing. But over longer periods of time is much worse and could definitely break a man, which is not right, but once again much harder to pick up. So, I am not saying violence towards men is right, it is just that violence towards men, by women is historically rare, and not a cause taken seriously by anyone. Now for the woman to feel equal to the man and appricated in society, is something many, also men agree upon, and value, because the woman have been historically supressed, and so violence towards women would be taken much more seriously, as the goal is to end this supression

[–]rabel111 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women who perpetrate violence against others, are just like men who perpetrate violence, they pick on people who cannot fight back or are less strng. So women's violence is against male children, other women and weak men (called incels by feminist pigs). Your analysis leaves out the very important determinant of class, which allowed women of wealth and power to perpetrate violence just as brutally as men.

[–]Hoopaboi 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hold on, none of that was an answer to my arguments.

Do you think it's justified for countries with hate speech laws to not prosecute women who post "kill all men" but prosecute men who post "kill all women"?

But do you feel that’s because men just hate other men?

It is well known in psychology that men have a out group bias while women have a in group bias, also known as the women are wonderful effect, which leads to violence against men being trivialized for example in books/movies/video games etc.

[–]lord_twig0 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And yet they have a disproportional likleyhood to be attacked, so sure, why not.

Just because men are the primary victims doesn’t mean it targets men.

That's exactly what it means, cupcake. Wars are waged for resources, sure. And how one gets those resources? By killing men who defend it.

You cannot win any wars without targeting men. End of.

[–]NeoNotNeo[S] 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Feminism targets men every day. Any to use feminisms own definition of violence it includes depriving men of health care education and due process of n courts. But I posted after someone showed me some kill all men tweets and crap you can buy online with that sentiment.

[–]goinsouth85 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And don’t forget the violence that is perpetrated by the man-hating family courts.

[–]hendrixski 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To be specific, it's about hate speech against "men" in general, not hate speech about minority men. What irks me is that the same rules don't apply to both genders equally.

For example:

Hate speech against black men, or gay men, or Jewish men, etc. Equals hate speech.

Hate speech against black women men, or lesbian women, or Jewish women, etc. Equals hate speech.

So far so good.

Hate speech against all men. Not hate speech.

Hate speech against women. Equals hate speech.

There's the issue in my opinion.
