I'm liberal and a MRA. Liberal politics do not preclude one from men's rights activism. I feel that seeking equality is an inherently progressive pursuit, an attempt to break from traditions and mores of the past.

I honestly don't know, but then, I'm limited by having lived thirty-mumble years with the US definitions.

On the one hand, I steadfastly reject the "every man for himself" philosophy of our "conservative" side.

On the other hand, I just as strongly reject the anti-individual thought-policing of our "liberal" side.

On the gripping hand, the politicians on both sides are the same bent, authoritarian corporate toadies regardless of which jersey they're wearing.

I consider myself pretty liberal. Of course that is in comparison to my location and my peer group. I am a registered democrat, have voted democrat almost exclusively for about 12 years. I don't believe president Obama is Muslim, socialist, or an illegal immigrant.

I don't think the two are at odds. Unequal is unequal. Misinformation is misinformation. I don't agree with all MRAs, I don't agree with all Dems, and I very rarely agree with republicans. I'm an informed consumer of information and a critical thinker.

I don't know if that answers your question completely.

ye, i am pretty far left though. i wouldn't necessarily consider myself just MRA, i am egalitarian and i support parts of the MRA as well as parts of (non-western) feminism.

I'm liberal. The lack of liberals would spell doom for the MRM because those on the right tend to suck at identity politics and messaging. The language of social justice must be applied more broadly than it has been under feminists domination. Liberals are the people who do that best.

I am socially very liberal and economically very illiterate so I stay out of the discussion haha.

I'm not outright opposed to anarchist 'free market' ideas. And I'm not outright opposed to socialistic 'regulatory' ideas.

But when it comes to social issues ranging from gay marriage to war to abortion... I lean on the lefty side quite strongly.

I am a card carrying member of the green party in Canada, a vocal anti-feminist MGTOW. These days, I honestly don't know where I stand. It feels like I don't belong to any group at all, even the MRM.

I'm also very pro-MRA and anti-feminist. Sympathetic to MGTOW and tending that way over time the more I interact with people.

While I support free markets and a market system, i'm skeptical of capitalism (though not opposed very strongly.), especially wage slavery elements of capitalism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wage_slavery

In a capitalist system though, i tend toward centrist/centre-left economics.

Yes and no.

Identity politics is a product of liberalism, not the actual left. Liberals have historically attacked the left. It's not rocket science. Plutocrats recognized that they had a winning scheme in ID politics, especially feminism, so they ran with it. Democrats and Republicans are two sides of the side coin.

Today, class analysis has been almost completely erased by identity politics. If you think that's all a coincidence, I have a piece of land to sell you on the moon.

The "left" used to be about class. Now it's about "straight white males." Quite the coup by the plutocrats, I must say.

They definitely don't have to be at odds. I'm a left-leaning Centrist. I used to go by the term liberal but I just found the Centrist label to be much more accurate (not to be confused with moderate). Men's rights typically does lean right IMO, but it doesn't have to, and it's good for men's rights to fall all along the political spectrum IMO.

You can definitely be a liberal and be an MRA, but there will definitely be complications when you are talking MRA ideas in the liberal groups. Feminism is definitely on the liberal side of things primarily, and the liberals depends on funding from feminists. That's why many liberal politicians are feminists. That's a bit of a problem.

I do think that there are ways to change this with time. The way is not for liberals to stop being liberals when they come across men's rights but to voice their men's rights ideas along with the fact that they are liberals like you are doing here. I call it cleaning up your own house.

I'm an atheist which is a big part of the reason I'm left on many issues. Feminism infiltrated atheism pretty badly and the two movements started becoming entwined. Eventually gay rights also tagged along with feminism and up popped Atheism+. I tried to raise awareness in the atheist community about the issues. Where we see feminism we typically see censorship and that was no different in the atheist community, where Atheism+ was one of the most censored atheist communities on the internet. I tried to raise awareness about this issue, I voiced that I was an MRA, and at first people ignored and chastised me. With time, however, they started listening and it seems like many atheists are starting to separate atheism from some of these other movements once again. There was always a sort of alliance, but not complete intertwinement. I believe that my efforts in this area helped push out feminism to some extent and helped legitimized the MRM in the eyes of many atheists. With time, I actually got unbanned from some atheist communities that previously banned me.

TL;DR: I'm a left-leaning Centrist atheist MRA, and I believe that people who are liberals that are also MRA's should remain liberals and MRA's and voice that they are both to help change the left for the better.

NOTE: All of this is from the perspective of within the USA.

I don't think they have to be.

In my view men's rights activism in the United States must implicitly be secessionist. It is the only strategy which has a chance of success. I dunno whether you call that liberal or not.
