The statistics on this are very easily manipulated. There are reported rapes, which occur at a rate of about 22 per 100,000 people per year, then there are estimated rapes. Nearly all of the statistics you see are estimated. Their methodologies are all over the map, so there numbers are little more than a guess.

Also, be careful of the terminology used. Often, sexual harassment is included with rape numbers, and some surveys consider cat calling to be sexual harassment.

Statistics on this topic are very often dishonest and designed to further an agenda.

In 2014, equal proportions of men and women reported being victims of spousal violence during the preceding 5 years (4%, respectively). This translated into about 342,000 women and 418,000 men across the provinces

:

Male victims of intimate partner violence were more likely than female victims to have experienced major (levels 2 and 3) assault (21% versus 12%)

It isn't a contest and we aren't seeking the same things as feminists. No one here is trying to say that IPV services should be male only, or that VAWA grants should only go to help men.

We don't have to prove that one side is "more victimized" to any large degree. The stats presented here are attempting to challenge the feminist narrative that men=bad and women=good. Treating IPV and sexual assault as a gendered issue is the wrong approach.

Hey, welcome to checking this place out. I don't know if you're on the fence, or feminist leaning. That's really not important though, you're checking things out on your own, which is good.

Now, I'll go by two studies that support the conclusions you are questioning. I am by no means saying these are the only right conclusions to make from these numbers, or that you should disregard any other sources. Look at studies, make up your own mind.

Page 18 and 19, show the numbers for rape of women (1,270,000 over 12 months) And the numbers for made to penetrate for men (1,267,000 over 12 months) are pretty much the same. I'd welcome a discussion on why to consider 12 month prevalence if you want that, but in my opinion, they are the best numbers to use.

As for domestic violence

Regarding perpetration of violence, more women than men (25 percent versus 11 percent) were responsible. In fact, 71 percent of the instigators in nonreciprocal partner violence were women.

I think there is a very valid point to saying that more women are seriously hurt. But it is important to note that how many are hurt, and how many are abused are two very different points of approaching the question.

It's true that feminists far overstate the number of rape victims, but usually I don't think that's the point when you hear someone say that.

Usually, I think people are referring to prison rape, which is tacitly accepted by many people. In fact, I accepted it for a while until someone made me realize that people are sent to prison as punishment and not for punishment. And then what of those in for drug offenses? Sure, they broke the law, but do they really deserve to be raped as many people say?

So as others have mentioned, look into the sidebar for info on over inflation. But also, look for a CDC phone study. I would link to it but I'm on mobile.

Basically, they found that in the last 12 months, almost as many men reported being "forced to penetrate" as women did being raped. Of course, a woman forcing a man to penetrate her isn't rape, legally, which allowed the CDC to use that study to say women were the majority victims of rape.

Of course the exact numbers are hard to know because of non-reporting, but it's highly probably that there is a far more even split, even without prison rape.

To me, this is a clear concern troll.

This is the third time I've run down a "new to men's rights" account, posting a self post indicating some concern, only to find that the account is less than a month old and primarily posts in video game subreddits.
