If I recall that is a main point brought up here is that women may be judged on their looks and how the shape of their bodies whereas men are judged on how much money they make or how useful they are in a situation.

There's no such thing as 'objectification'.

I mean, if you eat sushi off a naked woman then, yes. You are treating her like a table.

But if you say that a woman is attractive, you're not saying she looks like a fleshlight. You are saying she looks like a human being.

And, of course, if you reverse the situation and ask if it would be 'objectifying' to say that a man is attractive then obviously the answer would be no.

But trying to explain to feminists that in situations that they say are 'sexist' if you reverse the situation and make it a man they would not think it's sexist is an exercise in futility.

They have been told their whole lives that insulting or criticising a woman is sexist. Doing the same to a man is not.

Having to look at an attractive woman is unacceptable to feminists. Looking at an attractive man is not.

People as a whole objectify each other all the time and gender has no basis on that action. Anytime a person goes in to the mechanic and pays them for service they are objectifying them to get the job done in as little time possible usually without much human interaction. How about your Gardner? Do people get to know him? Think any aspect of the service industry.... people typically take a lot of frustration out on service workers/customer service with very little concern for the person behind the employee. As far as it being sexual objectifying it happens both ways. Guys are viewed all the time as far as their potential of mates, can we provide, can we protect, etc. Before society starts to really dig in and manipulate the populace’s mindset you can see some of the basics of evolutions hardwiring this into people (look at children on the playground as an example, the boys pick the pretty girls to pull their hair, the girls want to talk with the stronger kid who protects others from bullies. It’s been wired into humans for millennia to try and help us survive as a species, most fertile mixes with ability to protect the bloodline. Until we change our evolutionary traits and how the populace treats each other this isn’t going away for either gender.

Try this - the BBC recently released it’s “100 women” for 2020 - a list of female role models and achievers.

I did a search for the BBC’s 100 Men, not surprisingly there isn’t such a list, but what there is is ... “Sarah Janes 100 Hottest Men - BBC”.

Pure hypocrisy.

Also men are treated as “success objects” just as much (if not moreso) than men assess women on how physically attractive they find them.

okay so you're right in one way: both biological sexes are treated like objects. Men, like soldiers without feelings or emotions. Women, however, are objectified in a sexual way. Obviously men can be sexualized and objectified (for example, all those marvel movies with chris hemsworth and chris evans shirtless) but it is more common among women.

Objectification is an issue on both sides, but the type of objectification is slightly different.

Some men use women as sex objects, some women use men as an emotional tampon or a money maker, sometimes reversed. Everyone has a bad apple or apples in their group, nobody could control what some else does or thinks. Everyone is different and generalizing a group that makes up half of the planet isn’t gonna help nor is it progressive, just going to stirrup conflict, we don’t need other conflicts in this world. It isn’t my and other men’s fault that some men treat women like objects, nor isn’t women’s fault that some women use men like objects. We should instead hold the perpetrators accountable then the whole group accountable. Reality is that the majority of us, men and women, are decent people who hate the people who do use the other opposite gender to their advantage.

Men do get sexually objectified as well, barring money being involved they practically have to be superhero expies to be considered attractive. Even then the 'real' superheroes aren't even safe from that judgement, remember all the women and articles drooling over Jason Mamoa during Aquaman, and the subsequence shaming attempt after production over his 'dad bod'? His physique during production was so low on body fat to maximize the muscles that it was literally unhealthy, not to mention that level of dieting and exercise doesn't leave room for a lot of free time. His 'Dad bod' was still in healthier shape than most men and women in America, yet they were still trying to make it sound like he basically went from he-man to Homer Simpson.

The problem goes a bit deeper than that, I think. This idea that men "objectify" women is inherently used to vilify men for sexualizing women. This is wrong and it is a very negative/toxic way to view or portray male heterosexuality(you'll also notice, this rule does not apply to women or homosexual men). There is nothing wrong with sexual attraction, it is a part of what makes us humans. Attacking men and telling them that they are somehow dehumanizing women by seeing them in a romantic/sexual manner, when it is in fact the complete opposite, is very hypocritical, disingenuous and malicious. It is wrongfully telling men that their affection and desires towards women are inherently oppressive and harmful, which not only hurts them but forces them to repress their feelings and desires(and, because the burden of approach is still placed on men, this can actually have very devastating effects on their social/romantic life). It is misandry.

Heterosexual men do not want to have sex with objects, nor do they seek the approval and desire of objects. Desexualizing people(assuming sexually capable adults), or disregarding/disrespecting their sexuality, is far more dehumanizing and destructive than sexualizing them, because every human being has a sexuality(it is a fundamental part of our identity). And yet, desexuzalizing men is something women often do without remorse or reproach.

And, what's worse, is that women do actually "objectify" men considerably more. Men are effectively only valued for what commodity they can provide. That is the truest definition of objectification, and yet it is a social dynamic that is socially and culturally accepted(or simply scoffed off as evolutionary psychology).

Women are definitely objectified more, from advertisements, to photoshoots(it's far more common for women to have their eyes/nose/ears replaced with the of another model), to real life. A lot of locker room talk, to millions of men dedicating discord groups solely devoted to objectifying women.

I think it's a very valid issue on both sides. Right now, you aren't going to go to war and feminists are mostly anti drafting. It's not an issue you live with every single day. Women do live with the kind of objectification you talked about every single day.
