Depends on your definition of rape culture.

The "why is that girl causing trouble by pressing charges" people in Steubenville, the ~20% of Asian men who think "it's not rape if she's your wife", and the Africans attacking virgins in a desperate hope to cure themselves from AIDS... there do seem to be some areas where rape is more accepted than it ought to be, and excuses are sometimes made for those who commit it.

If by "rape culture" you mean that the kids think rape is the cool thing to do these days, then no, that doesn't exist. But I don't think that's how the term was originally intended.

Im not sure why but I do sometimes wonder if there is a rape culture. I hear all about it and its terror although it seems debatable but not once have I heard mentioned the actual and joked about rape culture of men in prison. 'Dont drop the soap' etc.. ?!?!

I think rape culture exists, just not in the way feminists use it. In the middle east and other very traditional, anti-woman cultures it exists.

And in men's prisons.

And in the general society regarding male prisoners.

But for women in the west? No.

It does exist, but only in very tiny pockets, for example some idiots at frat houses. But not even as any large fraction of even a small part of the mainstream.

I hate the notion of rape culture. What about our culture encourages rape exactly? I could make the argument video games and movies give us a "violence culture" yet before these things there was even more violence in the human world. The causes of rape have nothing to do with culture, it's to do with the individual's upbringing and life experience. I don't know exactly why people rape but it is nothing to do with culture.

The "rape culture" myth is one of the feminists' most powerful tools for smearing men. They really don't like it when someone points out that it's not true. Just look at all the kneejerkery and hatred in the comments!

Time will show that the author is right. Like the witchcraft myths of the 1600s, this too shall pass, and future generations will wonder how people could have been so stupid.

What scares me most about proponents of rape culture is the fact that these people seem so willing to tweak the legal system into the scary but true possibility (if not reality) of innocent people getting arrested, convicted, and/or shamed for the rest of their lives for a crime they never committed. Legal justice isn't perfect, and yes, there will be guilty people that slip through the cracks, and that fucking sucks. But risking conviction of innocent people in the hopes that more rapists go to jail is something I will not stand for. The livelihoods and reputations of innocent people are not something to be gambled with under any circumstances, even in the name of justice.
