Dear [redacted]:

Thank you for contacting General Mills about our Kix cereal advertising campaign. Our slogan, “Kid Tested, Mother Approved,” has been associated with Kix since the late-1970s. We are sorry if it offends you. In no way do we mean to ignore or belittle anyone′s role as a parent. One of the reasons the advertising states “Mother Approved” rather than “Parent Approved” is that each advertising claim has to be clearly substantiated, and this was the result of our consumer research.

The intent of advertising is to encourage both potential and existing customers to use our products. We appreciate that you have taken the time to share your concerns with us.

Thank you again for contacting us. We hope you will continue to choose our products.

Sincerely,

Amy Sadowski Consumer Services
