My ex wife had the mind set that I was the guy in the relationship so I was in charge of romance. If I didn’t initiate it it didn’t happen. She never really did anything romantic in our relationship and it’s part of the reason why she’s my ex.

A lot of stuff happening in popular romance movies would be harassment and rape if it happened in real life, if the guy wasn't attractive and rich.

Relationship are transactional. Marriage is a business arrangement. Romance is a female fantasy that has outlived it’s usefulness.

When the man is expected to pursue, pay, provide, protect and the woman does literally nothing that isn’t romance, it’s abuse.

Always remember, women do not make demands of romance from the guys they really desire, if she is asking for romance it means she isn’t that into you and thinks she’s settling. Romance is men paying a higher price so the woman can justify her view of you being worth less than she is, hence why you have to do more to “earn” her affection.

The panties will hit the floor immediately for a hot guy they truly desire. If that isn’t how she sees you, be aware you are going to be treated badly one way or another - lack of sex, forced to pay more money for dates or cheated on.

TL;DR - romance is a bullshit fantasy.

Nearly 50 years later, can vouch that this is pretty much true. Men carry all the burdens of expectations, expense. The rejection experienced by a male is simply the opposite side of the coin to female experience of 'harassment', but without the legal protections.

Women make as much money as men these days, if not more. This has liberated them from even pretending to be romantic, allowing their true nature to shine through, more and more. If 'shine' is really the appropriate verb...

Equality would mean that the government assigns single women to single men at 18.

Romance is supposed to be a game played by both men and women. Women control access to sex. Men control access to relationships.

Men decide on which women they will spend time and resources with. Choose wisely.
