My sister was recently talking about how some people didn't think birth control should be covered by medicare. She also explained that some women use birth control to lesson period symptoms, not for controlling birth. I asked her if condoms should be covered and she said no. Now don't get me wrong, I think that medications that lesson the severity of a period should be covered and medicines that do that and only that exist. And I'm totally for birth control, but at the user's expense. Why should men (and women) have to pay taxes to support other people's use of a drug to help them have sex? That's hardly a necessity. And when males want to have sex we must pay from our own pockets to buy condoms. There's nothing wrong with that, that's the way it should be, but women should not receive special treatment from medicare just because sometimes their drug can be used for another purpose that we already have drugs for. I could use a condom as a bandage in a pinch if I wanted to but that doesn't make it something that should be covered by Medicare. TL;DR: Sister thinks that birth control should be covered but mens methods should not What do you guys think?
