Milo also mentioned being present at parties where apparently "very young boys" were being used for sex by adults in a podcast with Joe Rogan. Did he say anything? Go to the police with an anonymous tip? Nothing of the sort. All he does is mention it on that podcast, not wanting to name names.

He also does say that thirteen-year-olds can have consensual sex with adults, and there's simply no context I can think of that makes that a rational, defensible argument. Yes, it's not pedophilia in the sense that it's hebephilia, but that's still far from "sex between equals". Which is why large portions of Western society have a problem with it.

Now, I am not saying that Dunham's case is excusable, and it does show favoritism of a sort. But then, Maher himself once stated that (paraphrased) "since the fourteen-year-old's penis was erect, he wanted it". And George Takei also talked about being given a handjob at thirteen by his camp councilor.

Both are men, both did not face any repercussions for either remark. I don't think it's as easy as "male vs female privilege" in this case. It's more about politics, I'd wager.

There is a vast difference between small children exploring their sexuality and a grown man actively advocating for sex between teens and adults, regardless of sex or gender.

I find it utterly repulsive that the media would smear a child victim of (statutory) rape. The media bias against men, Lena Dunham being a great example, just keeps getting worse. I sincerely hope he emerges from this a stronger man: a voice for men where others shy away.

I do think he was treated with a double standard, but not this one.

A woman who publically talked about how a certain type of rape was fine because it happened to her like that, would never have been fired. Not this quickly at least.

There would have been an effort to help her.

I couldn't be more in favor of Milo shutting the hell up...he's not a positive figure for any cause he's associated with.

That being said, I find it extremely odd that there appears to be no record of his actual statements in their original context that I can find.

I'm not going to suggest that there's a conspiracy of hypocrisy to deliberately take his words out of context, but I'm certainly thinking it pretty loudly.
