The difference is that calling an apple a "reverse apple" offers absolutely no additional information or clarification to the statement. Saying "reverse discrimination" adds the clarification that the discrimination being discussed is going in the opposite direction of what is perceived as the societal norm. If you were to say "True equality cannot be reached through more sexism." it leaves open the potential interpretation of the additional sexism just being more sexism piled onto what is already perceived as the societal norm, as in it could be seen as saying "True equality is not reached with more sexism towards women." (which obviously wouldn't make sense, but it would leave that interpretation open.)

Yes, technically "reverse discrimination" doesn't make sense, but anyone who reads it knows exactly what it's saying, and going on about how it's not worded perfectly is an asinine battle.

But the thing is, he purposely uses "reverse" discrimination because feminists use that, just like "positive" discrimination. It's basically saying "it is really stupid to use this line because discrimination is wrong." Yes, you can be blunt about it, but this is a joke picture. Having an overly long phrase often makes it less funny. The entire point of putting short words/phrases in the "matrix" things on the picture was because the actual matrix just was short strings of numbers. You're overanalyzing it, and losing the intention of the joke. He knows "reverse discrimination" is not right, but he is using it because many people view that exact term as something that is fine because it gives the impression that discrimination usually happens one way, so when it's reverse, it's ok since the initial group faces it for so long.

Well, I'll tell you this. We've had so many women come into our business and try to get men fired. It's always the same women (not all of them)... but they look for excuses to report their male counterparts. The men are now given classes on sexual harassment and told not to look at, touch, or joke with female coworkers. Now, a group of men can be working together, laughing and cutting up, but when a woman enters the room, a black veil drops over everyone and the room becomes silent. We quietly do our jobs until she leaves. The knee-jerk sexual harassment card has been so overused that men don't want to have anything to do with women any more. We don't go to lunch with them, we try not to have projects assigned with them, and we keep our heads down when walking through the halls.

That being said, our company now has an unwritten policy that hires women for the PR/HR jobs and the men run the show in the rest of the company. Keeping everyone separated seems to work fine for now. The men just want to do their jobs, get paid, and go home to their families.

As I said earlier:

SinFest comics deal with stock characters, stock plots, and stereotypes. Slick, Nique, Pig, Cherubs, God, Devil. They're all based on stereotypes or personifications of abstract concepts - which are often exaggerated and stereotyped themselves. The new feminist character on the tricycle is the stereotypical radfem that views everything through the one dimensional lens of the patriarchy.

If you look closely at the text you can see lots of little jokes and inconsistencies. Like the words 'Blah blah blah' in the last frame, and terms like Diva which are used in an empowering way but here are part of the ~~matrix~~ patriarchy.

In frames with a close up of the feminist are the terms 'feminazi' written across her face, and then 'little girl' which is supposed to be belittling except... she literally is a little girl because she's riding a tricycle.

And the last line in the strip is "What about the men?"

He's not quite satirizing feminism, though. It's more that he's taking these stereotypes and exploring how they interact with eachother, like Slick feeling guilty about his womanizing, and then struggling with his masculinity (as usual), and so on. Eventually, Slick changes his tactics by trying to win over Nique by fighting the patriarchy, but can't find it.

This comic does what all SinFest comics do, it takes stereotypes and plays them off eachother for comedy. Every character in SinFest is a satire.
