No, they will just spin this as a different aspect of Toxic Masculinity, i.e. "Men don't care as much."

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 109 points110 points111 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Feminism is just institutionalized protection.

[–]shit-zen-giggles 77 points78 points79 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yep, spot on. 'Patriarchy theory' is just 'female in group bias' projected onto men.

[–]Man_of_culture_112 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

even better

institutionalized Chivalry

[–]NeoNotNeo[S] 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Nailed it. The more women understand equality means equal responsibility, the more some of them are drawn to endless victimization theories.

If you are a white woman in the west you live at a higher standard than any human has ever, and I would include nobility of a century ago.

[–]CountBraaiTongs 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Women only want equality once we put air conditioners in the offices.

[–]spaceraverdk 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You keep forgetting that air-conditioning is sexist. 😂

[–]CountBraaiTongs 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That damn AC and it's *checks cue card* ... internalized misogyny!

[–]ASexualSloth 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would say that's not far enough. It's institutionalized sex based supremacy.

[–]ivafab 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

besides that, they want to destroy family and mischaracterize the human being

[–]scrumbum1 45 points46 points47 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]heeroena 31 points32 points33 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Toxic masculinity doesn't exist. Stop using there language and terms. Don't play their sick games.

[–]WTRKS1253 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This whole "toxic masculinity" thing was a horrible attempt to raise awareness for men not showing emotions. Instead, it's used to support misandrist and feminist ideologies. Its suprising to me how a lot of people actually believe that toxic masculinity exists. Its basically feminists trying to teach men how to be men lol

[–]Pepperclue_55 -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

It absolutely exists in my world. 'Men cant cry' "Men wearing bright colors/fashion is gay' 'Man working in a 'female field' is gay' 'Men have to be the breadwinners or they are a cuck/simp'

literally could go on and on. This is hyper masculinity that is harmful to men, therefore a 'toxic' form of masculinity.

Can you explain your veiw?

[–]heeroena 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

"Your" world doesn't exist. There is only THE world, a fact based reality that doesn't adhere to "your" feelings. The gyno-centric social order we live in seeks to define what good male behavior is and what bad male behavior is based on what is of benefit to them. Here is a little secret, the moment you start letting people define for you what you should do and how you should behave, you have effectively established yourself as an easily manipulated simp.

[–]Pepperclue_55 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

You dont think taunting skinny men which gendered insults is harmful? Or are you in support of shaming men for their bodies and behaviora unless they are 'masculine'?

[–]heeroena 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

No because as a man you have a burden of performance. If you can't perform at a bare minimum level then you become a burden and unreliable. Shaming is a female tactic not a male one. If guys bully other guys for a skinny appearance it is to reinforce a standard that applies to being male. We have evolved to be the stronger more dominant sex since we had to protect and provide. That hasn't changed.

[–]Pepperclue_55 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

So in your mind, bullying is not a toxic or harmful thing?

[–]heeroena 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

It is. So what

[–]Pepperclue_55 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Thats where the term comes into existance: to describe toxic ways masculinity gets reinforced

[–]heeroena 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

This is ridiculous and overly simplistic. Somehow in your head that behavior is associated with being masculine? As if women are unable to be bullies? When women bully others are they being toxicly masculine?

[–]Pepperclue_55 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Your so close- if a woman was being bullied for not performing femininity, its toxic femininity. You could ahve thw same example if people are bullied for not being positive enough, called toxic positivity. Another example would be if someone was being bullied for not performing like a good athlete, that could be called toxic athleticism.

See the pattern?

[–]heeroena1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

facepalm Gtfoh. Making up shit to suit your bullshit narrative. Effectively having any kind of standard and judgementalism is toxic.

*You are so close Does correcting your grammar make me toxicly grammatic?

[–]Pepperclue_550 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

We can agree to disagree, but toxic positivity is a pretty common term, I didnt make it up

[–]heeroena1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

No we can't. Truth is not subjective

[–]Pepperclue_550 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

That is ridiculous, have you never heard of the prospective problem?

[–]Whitified 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminists will blame patriarchy for this anyway

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

What does this have to do with toxic masculinity, as shitty a term as that is?

[–]THEAdrian 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I guess the idea of overly-jealous/competitive males is a symptom of toxic masculinity.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

I don't many people think jealousy about a romantic partner is something exclusive to men, even people who subscribe to the concept of toxic masculinity.

[–]THEAdrian 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not saying I agree with it.

[–]Antanarau 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I would say that those who believe in toxic masculinity would think that every abusive ex/current partner must be a male. So they do agree( probably) that everyone can feel jealous , but they absolutely believe that everyone who abused anyone is male (which is nothing new, to be honest) - so, uh, overjealousy?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

which is nothing new, to be honest

Exactly. This is a traditional attitude to abuse, and yes it has come in "handy" as a cultural force when some feminists have pushed for gendered policies on domestic and intimate partner violence.

As for Toxic Masculinity, the point of the concept is to tie certain men's behaviours to messed up ideas about what it means to be a man. It really has nothing to do with women's behaviours (or, for that matter, with most men's behaviours), which need to be explained in other ways.

[–]CountBraaiTongs 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But don't you dare say something about her guy who's "just a friend". Then you're insecure, small dick energy, misogynist, "It's the [insert word] for me!", controlling, toxic...

[+]bigbagol -63 points-62 points-61 points 4 years ago (31 children) | Copy Link

while this might be true, still men are way far more dangerous when jealous and angry.

[–]elonsmusketer 35 points36 points37 points 4 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

not really

[+]bigbagol -43 points-42 points-41 points 4 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

oh so the many news of murders or other violent crimes commited by jealous and bitter ex Bf/husbands are lies?

yeah women did it too, but the ratio is staggeringly one sided toward male.

[–]elonsmusketer 31 points32 points33 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

lmfao statistics say otherwisr actually show your source

[+]bigbagol -11 points-10 points-9 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

you need statistics data? here it is https://ncadv.org/STATISTICS

summary: -1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience severe intimate partner physical violence, intimate partner contact sexual violence, and/or intimate partner stalking with impacts such as injury, fearfulness, post-traumatic stress disorder

-1 in 4 women and 1 in 17 men have been victims of severe physical violence (e.g. beating, burning, strangling) by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

  • 1 in 7 women and 1 in 18 men have been stalked by an intimate partner during their lifetime to the point in which they felt very fearful or believed that they or someone close to them would be harmed or killed

-1 in 5 women and 1 in 71 men in the United States has been raped in their lifetime.

-72% of all murder-suicides involve an intimate partner; 94% of the victims of these murder suicides are female

i mean do you really need prove that statistically ,in every culture and countries on earth MEN are more domineering and violent to their spouses/gf/exes than Women?

[–]Greg_W_Allan 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

"1 in 5 women and 1 in 71 men in the United States has been raped in their lifetime."

Only if you exclude every male raped by a female. Your choice of source is biased to the point of excluding actual rape victims based on gender. Useless.

[–]matrixislife 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Guns, the great equalisers.
Paying attention to what tops the news headlines is a viscious circle, those journos aren't interested in men being harmed and virtually never report on it.

[–]bigbagol -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

sure guns are great equaliser but only in the u.s. what happen in the other countries?

i get it, there are many bitches in the world, and men dont like reporting domestic violence upon themself out of fear being ridiculed. but don't act like men and women are equally violent in domestic abuse, is not even close dude. a slap or scratch from a woman is not the same as a punch from a man.

[–]matrixislife 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Last I saw the DV ratio for one-sided violence was 70% women, 30% men, so you're right, it's not even close. And when women like Lorena Bobbit get celebrated and applauded I'm certainly not going to take headlines seriously, but I am taking DV from women seriously.

[–]bigbagol 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

it's that number of victim or perpetrator?

but I am taking DV from women seriously.

how about from men? regardless of your original comment about "DV against men rarely made headlines" the fact is not only in U.S but in the world in general, the victim of severe DV (rape, murder, etc..) are overwhelmingly Women.

[–]matrixislife 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

So "journos don't report DV against men" is followed by "but there are more headlines for women harmed by DV than men".

You can't see the obvious problem there?

[–]liberalbutnotcrazy 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Let’s rearrange your statements….

“There are more headlines for women harmed by DV than men” because “Journos don’t report DV against men”

If something is happening to two groups, and it isn’t reported on when it happens to one, the other will appear to be more affected.

I personally don’t see DV as a zero sum game, and believe that we should honestly report on all DV. Warts and all.

The statistics state that 50% of all DV is reciprocal, meaning both sides of the couple using violence against one another.

For the remaining 50% of cases where the violence is non-reciprocal, 70% of the violent parters are women.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1854883/

This would assume that in all relationship types involving DV, women act violently 60% of the time and men 40% of the time. Sex just acts as a force multiplier in violence due to the larger on average strength of males vs females resulting in more hospitalisations and deaths.

[–]matrixislife 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Unfortunately journos do not agree with you and as always, their opinions are the only ones that matters. [because no one else can actually get their opinions broadcast]

I find it strange that women can commit more than double the DV that men do [when it isn't both of them at it] yet that gets no attention at all from the media. It's pretty obvious that we're playing against a stacked deck here.

[–]bigbagol1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

the hell you talking about? ofcourse journalist will care for who got mudered or which gender end up in hospital ber more.if the men get murdered by their wifes/gf, it will make the news.

infact forget about journos, i dare you to pull DV official data from any country, check out which gender murdered/rape and all that violent stuff the most.

you act like husband/bf get slap or thrown object are the same degree with wives/gf get murdered.

[–]matrixislife1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Dream on. The police don't give a toss about men being abused, the press certainly don't, and the courts don't. The only reason anyone is talking about it outside this sub is because of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Two weeks after the verdict for that is handed down it'll be business as usual.

[–]bigbagol1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

the police, media and the court dont care about men getting murdered by their wives/exes?? if there are violent crime perpetrated by women toward their husband/exes i'm sure it will make the news, because of the rarity of it. it certainly make the news here in indonesia.

you are living in a bubble, an echo chamber. i'm not american, you focus on this johnny depp stuff while everywhere in the world women get beaten, raped, murdered by their spouse or bitter/jealous exes.

men are victim too, but the scale and the level of violent they received are far milder than what happened to women. the data and the eye test back it up.

so again back to my original comment on the topic, in general women mightbe more prone to jealousy than men, but still because of men in general are more violent, they are more dangerous.

[–]matrixislife1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

i'm not american,

What makes you think I am?

You do sound very much like a feminist though, the point isn't that women get assaulted, sure they do and they have plentiful services and support for if that happens.
The point is that when men get assaulted they get ignored, ridiculed, minimised [just like you are trying to do above] and treated appallingly when they are the victims.

Domestic violence isn't a zero sum situation, there's not a total amount to be divided up between men and women. Unforunately, press coverage and front page headlines certainly ARE a zero sum situation, and you'll notice how little of that goes to men.

You say I'm in an echo chamber? Show me a DV front page headline before the Johnny Depp saga. I'll bet it's not this year.
That's your echo chamber.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The majority of the victims of violence committed by males are boys and men AND the majority of the victims of violence committed by females are also boys and men. Notice the commonality?

in domestic violence?

[–]lordluke101 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Men are more likely to do something physical about it. Women manipulate their partners intensely and fucks when them in every other facet of life

still men CAN BE way far more dangerous when jealous and angry.

Never underestimate a women who has objects near enough for her to grab.

As for stats far more men being hit don't report compared to women.

Let me guess, Patriarchy?

[–]bigbagol -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

no is not, i'm not feminist or any of that. it just common sense dude.

i see it with my own eyes, you probably seen it too. women slap and scratch then men throw a punch then it's light out.

women get rejected, she throw tantrum, insult us, try destroy our reputation, but usually it stop there.

it usually stop there for men too, but there are many cases where it end with stalking, violent crime to the point of rape or murder. and this number are far-far higher in men as perpetrator. the same with bitter/jealous exes, and the number is not even close.

[–]Whitified 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

try destroy our reputation

You say that so casually like its nothing. Also noteworthy that you ignore scorned women who take your stuff with the power of the State.

You sure you don't believe Patriarchy?

[–]bigbagol -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

pfft... again with the snide

You say that so casually like its nothing.

men do it too. for your second point, is it worse than getting murdered by their spouse/exes? which in every official country statistic say it's very disproportional toward women.

[–]Whitified 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

try destroy our reputation

men do it too.

Really? Are you also going to tell me that people believe these men like they believe women too?

is it worse than getting murdered by their spouse/exes? which in every official country statistic say it's very disproportional toward women.

Ohh, so now you telling us that DV is committed by men far more than women?

Remind us again how you're not a feminist?

[–]bigbagol 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ohh, so now you telling us that DV is committed by men far more than women?

no i did not, i said men commited at higher scale/level of violence in DV. just look at the data in every country, which gender murdered or commit violent crime to their spouses/exes more? is men and is not even close.

back to my original response, that's why i said eventhough women are more prone to jealousy, Men are still more dangerous because in general we are more violent.

[–]Antanarau 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

> she throw tantrum, insult us,

This study shows women are often the one who is toxic/jealous in relationships, which is no surprise to anyone who has met women lmao... but how does it say anything about toxic masculinity?

[–]heeroena 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In my mind there is a reason behind human behavior and I am not qualifying it. Keep your feelings in check. Bullies will keep bullying until you fight back. Women will keep shaming until you make it clear to them that their shaming doesn't work.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There was a study in the UK about twenty years ago which examined the attitudes of individuals towards the exes of their current partner. There was a stark difference between the sexes. It seems women prefer to think their male partner's exes are awful whilst men are the complete opposite.

Whilst I can't vouch for this personally I have needed to lecture all my female relatives about bad mouthing my ex partners, a thing I will not tolerate.
