To be fair, underage kids (M & F) have snuck in to clubs and bars (figuratively with fake ID's or literally) for as long as there have been age limits on who is allowed in. It is only more recently that society has lost it's friggin' mind and decided that everyone but them are responsible for their actions.

I'm not advocating going out and hooking up with some underage person who snuck in to the bar - usually I think we can tell the difference. If the adult knows they're underage, that's on them too. But if someone shows ID that says 21+ and it looks legit, there's no rational basis for charging the adult or the establishment with anything. They're not bloody psychic.

My solution is just to not get involved with people I meet at clubs or bars anymore.

If they have a fake ID, not knowing they were underage needs to be a defence. If they were in an age restricted place, a bar or nightclub and age was assumed because of that, not knowing they were underage needs to be a defence. Seriously I know guys in their 20s that could pass for underage if they shaved or did makeup differently, and I am betting the reverse is true, early bloomers who look like they're probably 21 while they're 15 do exist.

30ish years ago, my friend and I went to a bar. We picked up two girls and brought them home.

My date goes home at 4am. My friends date falls asleep in bed with him.

Two hours later our door gets kicked in by some random dude (random to us) demanding we get our hands off his daughter.

Turns out my friends date was 14--she did not look it, and she had the experience of someone 10 years older. She was out partying with her 18 year old sister.

It didn't matter that both girls admitted that she had used a fake id.

My friend got 15-25 for statutory rape. He kept getting more time for fighting (it didn't matter that he was defending himself from being repeatedly raped).

He committed suicide 5 years ago after getting brutally raped and beaten. And even though he didn't defend himself this time, he got an extra year for fighting.

She's the wife of a religious leader now and is considered a leader of said religion's women's community.

I get chills every time I think about. We flipped a coin to see who would approach which girl. My friends and my lives could be completely different on the flip of a coin ...

Although this is a good post, the title does not say enough about its subject. This forces people to click and read before they can decide whether they are interested. It also makes searching impossible.

If everyone did this, the subreddit would become unusable. Moreover, it means that your post will fail to reach some readers because they won't know what it's about.

So please don't do it in future. Take the time to describe your link, and save the time of hundreds of other people.

When making a title, it's best to assume the reader doesn't know what you're talking about - but don't go overboard with every detail. Then check if there are any words you can cut out without losing any important information.

Not always easy to tell how old someone is. I've seen 14-15 year olds who looked like adult women. Conversely, I've seen women in their 20s who look like high schoolers. Having a Fake ID makes it even harder.

Part of the idea of age of consent is people understanding the consequences of their actions. That's the whole point. Acting like kids will suddenly get it, when their brain isn't fully developed, is kinda stupid. I don't think the twitter op understands why there is an age of consent in the first place.
