After I saw this I wanted to see what happened when I searched men-led businesses. Google just wants to auto correct it to women-led businesses. How is that ok.

Oh, that does hit a nerve. I’ve recently been looking for a book subscription and the amount of businesses that advertise with a focus on being a female-led company or only working with female authors was overwhelming. Wanted to see if I could find a subscription only offering books by male authors and of course that’s not a thing.

I went to check. Wrote "men led businesses" and it said "did you mean: women led businesses" i ignored it and the top 6 results are about women led businesses. The 7th is about men vs women led businesses.

Anyone who still trusts google or wikipedia with their time or clicks, this is a wake up call. These people have an agenda, and they're pushing it hard. At the very least, use duckduckgo for searching.

I call that "search for business to avoid". These are not women-led businesses, these are businesses where the owner choose to put their gender in the foreground instead or the product/service they provide.

This kind of gender essentialism should not be supported. It's opposed by a lot of feminists too.

EDIT: Already a clothing shop, 2 pharmacies and a hairdresser where I won't go anymore.

If you ever want to exclude something from a search use - and then what you want excluded. For example:

1) men led businesses -women

2) coffee shop -women-led -women

You can exclude multiple terms this way too.

This is like why there is no straight pride month, but a gay pride month, and how it is that they were not the norm/were oppressed; but in this case, it is not celebrating how they are/were oppressed or not the norm. people want to support women led stuff because, "they have it worse." ( you dont see gay or trans owned businesses though, even thought they are actually fighting)
