Of course a man should have the right to choose to have the child. And that the woman should pay child support. The vice versa is the custom today and should be honored for men as well, it is only legally fair.

It'll also be good when science gives us control over our bodies such that we actively don't expel sperm unless we want to, and end unwanted pregnancies with one fell swoop.

However, the same bio-technologies would likely allow a woman a similar control over her womb, allowing her to abort at will, without anyone being the wiser.

Replace the term "abortion" with "transfer to artificial womb," and it makes sense. Both are surgical procedures; logically and medically, it should not make any difference to a woman which procedure is done if her decision is to not carry the fetus any further.

Logically, the only reason that a woman would refuse to have the fetus transferred from her body has to be based upon pure malice, as the risks for abortion and transferal are practically the same.

But the "her body, her choice" argument would probably still be employed, even though the woman does not want to carry the baby to term.

The right to choose, and endentured servitude are not the same thing.

If someone has the right to choose, in our mythical technologically advanced world, then that is where their right starts and stops. The notion of child support should be undone because it's unfair, regarless which gender it impacts. If a parent wants the child, they want the child, it should not come with a price tag for the parent that didn't.

This is the component today that causes me so much grief:

If the woman wants to keep the child, she's being responsible.
If the woman wants an abortion, that is her right and she is looking out for her self (again, being responsible).
If the guy wants the child, irrelevent -- if he pays for the child, he's responsible.
If the guy doesn't want/ doesn't pay for the child he has his wages taken, can be thrown in jail, etc etc.

I don't want a system that victimizes anyone, I want one that is fair to everyone. Those of you that just have this vindictive bullshit towards women in general are just as bad as the women who abuse the system today.

The market always corrects itself--the current rise in unwed motherhood and the concomitant degradation of social and civic life (as nearly all studies agree that children growing up in broken homes are less likely to succeed) is damage enough to the institution of legal predation that women exercise over their sperm donors (both real and metaphorical).

Once it has gotten to a point that jobs are worthless, everyone's on the dole, nobody can afford a college education, and everybody's sick of violence, neglect, and abuse--suddenly, fathers will become fashionable again! We must simply endure as men have for thousands of years in the face of far worse personal and national tragedies.

Given your parameters, it has to be extracted from the woman initially. And if she doesn't want the fetus to come to full term, I doubt she would consent to this procedure. Would it be right to force the woman to undergo the procedure that extracted the fetus? How invasive would it be?

How would your reaction to this be? It is just isn't it? A woman is still able to govern over her own body; she can have the fetus removed, just not terminated.

My reaction would be favorable as it would solve half of the problem of equal reproductive rights (when mom wants and abortion and dad doesn't; the opposite won't be resolved with artificial wombs though)
