Yeah it's basically child abuse when a feminist raises a boy. The hate these days is so thick that it overrides natural family bonds. I don't think it used to be that way but feminists have ramped up their attacks on children who happen to be male.

I was awake the other night for a couple hours while trying to sleep because I was also worried about my 2 year old boy. But not due to anything like what this article discusses. I am worried that my boys' "worth" in today's over-the-top P.C. society is consistently trending downwards. I'm worried about the lack of help or empathy that will be available for him from society should he ever struggle with mental or emotional problems. Or that he would ever then think about suicide as an escape from this. I'm worried that his achievements from hard work will be discounted as "privilege". I'm worried that he'll struggle to find decent employment as employers try to fill quota's instead of best hiring practices. That he'll find himself in an abusive relationship yet be viewed as the aggressor. That an alcohol fueled (consensual) sexual encounter will be thrown back at him as a rape charge. I worry that he'll be a target for random violence at much higher rates. etc... All these things he is at much higher risk for than my daughter. I worry about my daughter too as all parents worry about their children. But I am more worried about the trend for boys these days and the way our society views men and masculinity as something that needs to be tempered, trained, and/or fixed.

Why I’m Afraid to Raise a Woman

We were sitting in the waiting room, my wife's pregnant stomach protruding and sweat from another episode of morning sickness still framing her brow. It was the big appointment, when we’d learn the sex of our growing potato or summer squash or whatever size our tiny surprise was, and we were nervous and excited and anxious.

“I hope it’s a girl”, my wide-eyed and already proud wife whispered.

Before I could ask why, we were called into the doctor’s office and delivered the news.

We were, in fact, having a girl.

My wife was thrilled, already planning mother and daughter trips to the shopping mall or spa or beach. I could sense a palpable comfort, knowing she felt relieved that she wouldn’t be raising a boy. Her daughter wouldn’t face blatant institutionalized sex discrimination or stomach-turning violence and suicide statistics or have the majority of society tell her his worth is based solely on his wallet and looks.

My wife was grateful we were having a girl.

I was terrified.

Women being nervous about having a son is considered normal. We’ve come to the conclusion that raising a woman is easier than raising a man; less pressure and less responsibility and less evils to worry about and, therefore, protect them from. We don't worry about our sons’ safety as much as we worry about our daughters’.

But I didn’t feel this palpable comfort.

I felt an overwhelming sense of liability for the growing potatoes or summer squashes in other women’s bellies, who were boys. I felt an obligation to the parents who were just as nervous and excited and anxious as we were, learning that they were having a son and immediately feeling that small yet powerful tinge of terrified worry.

I knew it would be my parenting style and my consistent example and my unwavering precedent that would ensure she didn’t add to the misandrist and oppressive society that a brand new, beautiful baby daughter would be born into. I was instantly aware that what went on in my home and how we conducted ourselves in public and how I handled specific situations my daughter was sure to experience, would be the difference.

I would be the difference between my daughter helping a man instead of taking advantage of him.

I would be the difference between my daughter believing men are her equal instead of her inferior.

I would be the difference between my daughter respecting men instead of callously degrading them.

I would be the difference that could ensure she would, one day, be different.

And with this immense amount of pressure came an overwhelming feeling of inadequacy. Would I—hell, could I—be the parent that could raise the kind of woman another parent would be more than happy to have his or her son meet? Would I be able to instill a sense of responsibility in my daughter that would make her empathetic towards her male counterparts, regardless of her inability to know exactly how they feel?

Would I have it in me to be the kind of father that didn’t degrade or diminish her femininity, but teach her that it can be a powerful tool for positivity, change and equality?

Would I be the father that, by keeping my daughter safe and secure, ensures that the future men he’ll be sharing the world with will be safe and secure as well?

We tend to think raising women is somehow easier. We believe there’s less to worry about, as they don’t face the very real, very overwhelming fears men face on a daily basis.

But I think raising women is harder. I believe there is a greater responsibility, not only to your own precious potato or summer squash, but to the others who are growing in the women around us. I think that culpability should be instilled in every current or future parent, because we are the difference between the women men are thankful they encounter, and the women they hope they never come across.

We’re the difference that can make the next woman – sitting in the waiting room with her pregnant stomach protruding and sweat from another episode of morning sickness still framing her brow – hoping for a son. And that hope not being terrifying, at all.
