When it comes to gender double standards the most flagrant one I see is the acceptability of sexualizing little boys vs little girls. Granted on reddit if someone posts a picture of any little girl inevitable some top comments will be, "Post again when she's 18." or "OP you're going to have to lock her up when she gets older." Along with real gross shit thats downvoted. However in real life, or at least in my middle class life now, I don't see many adult men openly sexualizing little girls. In fact if anyone is adultifying and sexualizing young girls imo its more so mothers who are encouraging them to be super thin for boys or over encouraging makeup, revealing clothing, and piercings at a young age.

But even this behavior is pretty frowned upon in society. Last year I went to a family bbq and saw my little cousins. they are 5 and 7 yr old boys who are adorable. A family friend, an older woman in her 40's maybe, comes up and starts squeezing my little 7 yr old cousins muscles without warning and saying, "wow you're a big strong guy. You are going to be a player when you get older." Everyone laughs. Granted the kid is kind of scrappy but I thought that behavior was really inappropriate. Like if a grown man came up to a little girl and started touching her hair or patting her behind and saying, "wow your hair is so long or your butt is firm, you are going to be a heartbreaker when you grow up," everyone would kind of be disgusted. (Ok most people, there are fucked up people everywhere.)

So my cousins are just hanging around being little kid and this woman comes up again and says "he's such a hunk! I just want one kiss from such a handsome guy." Proceeds to basically put pressure on my little cousin to kiss her while he is little kid bleching the entire time. Everyone laughs. I thought it was gross.

My sister is also always talking to my 5 year old cousin about girls when he has no interest in them and telling him how he should treat them and what he should do. Like shes always like this how you should treat a lady, this is how you can be a gentleman, if a girl is in line let her cut you, or never hit or yell at a girl, or do you kiss the girls at school? what do you think of the girls in your class? She does this in front of other women and men and no one bats an eyelash. if a father was saying equal stuff to his daughter people would be outraged.

I should say I don't think its the case that little girls don't face sexualization but thats its not generally acceptable.

When I was doing a teacher training program to teach junior high schoolers one of the trainers (a male by the way) told the female teachers to flirt hardcore with boy students to encourage them and get them to be more behaved. Like winking, sweet talk, complimenting them. I was also disgusted by the idea of a teacher encouraging other teachers to entice students with their body and lead them to believe the teacher was hot for them. Its gross.

In practice when I have watched the hot teachers it does work but it would be really looked down upon if a hot male teacher openly said his strategy with girl students is to flirt and entice them. In fact we are very suspicious of male teachers as it is.

So the problem is this acceptance of sexualization of little boys. My question is how do we deal with it? What are the different pill perspectives? I think both pills are guilty. But I will say I blame RP more since it encourages the notion of male worth based on sexual conquest.
