It's better than no life IMO. The experience of reality, even if less than optimal, is still a unique and gift of an experience. Sure her life will have tremendous hardship and challenges, but that's part of life. She will learn aspects and angles of the living experience none of us will ever be able to truly understand. Some of it dark, some of it enlightening... But either way, still unique and precious in it's own right.

It's a tough life, that's for sure, but it's not a regrettable one. They are going to experience a side of humanity will never experience. It will be a very rough journey, and they will wish they were normal. But none the less, they'll be extremely grateful for life. In fact, from a more philosophical perspective, they are gifted in a way. They are at the bottom. They first hand witness the world around them without any halo effect. They have the blackest of black pills... This girl will grow up and be so incredibly wise when it comes to human emotion and interaction.

Only one flaw in your thinking, you're assuming she will survive the torment. I agree that those who go through tremendous hardship and find meaning in it are great people. But they are also strong people. Life is a test, there's no guarantee she'll pass it. I'm pessimistic that she won't because we live in weird times where it's easy to scorn life and have a victim mentality. People may think they are coping this way but it's an insidious manifestation of nihilism.

I think these sort of people are so beaten down by the time they reach adulthood, that the values "normal" people place are moot. By that point they've found other meaning and other ways to find value in their existence -- I mean, just look at her mother. She seems to be figuring it out.
Because when you think about it, and step away from the rat race for a second, you realize that there really isn't much meaning to life. We were all just kind of plopped here on Earth and sort of just bump around. There is no ultimate goal or purpose for existing -- we just do.
However, to fill our time we all sort of create our own goals and our own missions just to sort of create a sense of purpose and relevance. But really, ultimately, there isn't a purpose. So in effect, she's going to be just like everyone else, and find another purpose that may not be "normal", but a purpose none-the-less, which is equally as meaningless as the rest of our purposes.

I’m not the person you replied to, but this is a very reductive view of antinatalism. Suicide is difficult. We don’t have simple suicide booths that make it accessible and painless. Just having the mentality of preferring not to exist isn’t enough; it takes huge willpower and planning.
It’s also extremely likely they have people who care for them who make it even more difficult to leave. It isn’t just “everyone who doesn’t kill themselves loves life, or they would have done it.”

I'm being dead serious, do you really think that? Look at her mom. She has that deformity and she seems happy as hell and making the best of it.
Like it's really easy to get stuck in the trap of comparing yourself with others -- especially as a social species -- but it seems like people like them realize that they have no choice but to stop doing that and just figure out a way to make the best of it.
I just struggle to find a reason to think that no existence is better than a shitty existence. Sure, if it's an existence of absolute torture, that may be an exception. But the two of them are still eating food, watching movies, listening to music, and all the other sort of things.
Ideally she'd have a BETTER life without that disfigurement, but I don't think that means a lack of life is better than a hard life.
