I know how famous this whole "men are afraid of commitment" idea is.
Countless women, feminists or not, already said that phrase unironically at least once in the lives.
But just because of how famous that idea is, it doesn't means that idea is true.
"Men are afraid of commitment" is something often said by single women in frustration for not finding men inside the dating pool that are looking for commitment at that moment.
And that's okay.
It's okay to feel frustrated for not finding men on the dating pool that want to commit at that moment.
Not saying the whole "men are afraid of commitment" cliché.
I mean the frustration thing.
But here is the thing:
Just because so many men on the dating pool don't want commitment, it doesn't means they are AFRAID of commitment.
This whole "men are afraid of commitment" idea is something that women invented to make single-by-choice men feel bad for not wanting a relationship.
If you stop to think about it, the idea that men are afraid of commitment is a great way to blame men for women for their lack of success in getting a relationship.
It makes the public opinion be like this:
"If women want to enter serious relationships and are not succeeding,
it's men's fault for not wanting serious relationships!"
When actually, the public opinion should be like this:
"Dear women, YOU. ARE. NOT. ENTITLED. TO. A. RELATIONSHIP. If men from your age group (or even older) don't want a serious relationship, it's their right. You're entitled to your right of feeling frustrated for not getting a serious relationship, but men from your age range have no obligation of wanting a serious relationship."
Also... Let's talk about the whole "immaturity" thing.
When men of a certain age (over 25, 30, etc) are single and don't want a serious relationship, women often try to shame him for being "immature".
This shaming tactic is an empty insult.
I mean... just because a man doesn't wants to risk being traumatized, cheated, gaslit, emotionally abused, babytrapped or even battered he is immature?
Aw, come on!
Because let's be honest...
Not all women do those shitty things, but when a man who is single expresses no desire of being in a relationship right now, he probably had one of those bad experiences with women before. Or even more than one. Or even all of them.
The bottom line is:
Men (no matter how old they are), have no obligation of wanting a serious relationship.
And... Women, stop judging men from your age group for not wanting a serious relationship right now. They're not "immature" or "irresponsible" for that.
