The good - I stuck with a project and finished as much as I said I would finish in a weekend! Baby Blanket I planned to do the entire quilt top so next week I could do the actual quilting portion next weekend and still have a few days before the shower in case something comes up.

It's like the silliest thing to be proud of because it's such a small goal and I really just wanted to be upstairs binge watching my new TV show but I stuck to it and I finished it in the time I gave myself. :)

Good: My SO is doing so much better compared to last weekend! He's been home from the hospital for a while, but finally starting to feel more normal each day. This was a much needed lesson for everyone involved. Seriously, ladies, you never truly realize how much you love (or don't love) someone until you are faced with medical emergencies. Your response speaks volumes when things are completely out of your control. I surprised myself and my SO and it has forever changed our relationship for the better.

Bad: I haven't received a call from the job interview I had last week. I was told that it was pretty much a done deal, but I haven't received the formal offer yet. Kinda bumming about that because I really want to get away from my current job.

Ugly: Nothing!

good: 1.) Last week I was surprised with a promotion and $5k raise despite not doing anything to earn it (in my mind). This is an unexpected windfall for us, which means moving out of our apartment next year will be much easier. 2.) I've stuck with my Mandarin lessons to the point of becoming semi fluent, which is a private source of pride and accomplishment. Its easy to turn into a mom-zombie with a CRAZY toddler and mutual exhaustion between my husband and I, so the fact that I carved out some time to learn a new skill and stick to it makes me feel like a human again. :) 3.) My husband has noticed and complimented muh gainz, specifically delts, quads, and glutes. I've always been fit, but now I'm 'instagram' fit, lol.

bad: This weekend I grew incredibly frustrated with my husband's knee injury. He asked me to massage his knee and I curtly responded by telling him perhaps he should work on strengthening his tendons by doing some stretching and weight lifting. He was hurt because my words said 'advice' but my tone conveyed 'annoyance'. It was a culmination of things; we hadn't had sex in a week because of his knee injury, toddlerman is entering a new growth spurt so he's been especially crabby and tantrum-y, miscellany annoyances (MIL issue, delayed Halloween costume, unresolved comcast fuckery). Regardless, it all came to head Friday night with my shitty tone and we briefly fought before sorta making up and going to bed. Thankfully Saturday morning cooler heads prevailed, we had awesome sex which relieved A LOT of tension. Upon reflection, I need good, consistent sex to be an even keeled partner. If I go longer than a week I definitely turn into a snippy crabass.

the ugly: Nothing to report.

Good: We picked our ceremony spot. It took all day of driving around Rocky Mountain National Park trying to find the perfect spot. I'm not looking forward to the wedding (I'd rather elope and skip all of the theatrics and wasting money on a party), but being in the spot and seeing the gorgeous view made it seem less daunting.

Bad: Despite the cool weather making me happy, a lot of other things have been dragging me into some pretty gnarly moodswings. I'm trying to pull myself together, but most days I really can't escape feeling like such a loser.

Ugly: Thankfully nothing ugly.

Good: Had a wonderful night with my SO on Saturday! It was so fun and relaxing. I got my ass handed to me by a training run earlier in the day, and when I asked him what he wanted us to do together, he said, "How about a milkshake and a massage?" It led exactly where you'd think, and it was so much fun! Plus we had lots of time to just talk and cuddle (a shared favorite thing, especially when we've both been busy and haven't seen each other much!), and it just felt good. Plus the training run was good. It was hard, but I stuck it out! And got pampered as a result :)

Bad: Working a lot of extra hours. I get flex time for them, but it throws off my whole schedule, and things start falling through the cracks. It's hard to stay on top of keeping my apartment (and myself!) clean and sparkling and at its best when everything is wonky. So... gotta work on not letting little upsets become big disruptions.

Ugly: This is going to get rant-y. I am very, very happy and fulfilled in my relationship and feel very loved by my SO, and recently some of my friends are somehow unsupportive of that? I know it's just solipsism, but it's like they see things that wouldn't work for them and are unable to understand how or why it works for me and my SO, so they talk to me about it in a way that sounds like they're encouraging me to rabble-rouse or become dissatisfied with a relationship in which I am quite happy. It's happened with two different friends in the past week or two, both times regarding things I have told them before are a non-issue for me. And then I end up frustrated with myself because I find myself trying to justify the ins and outs of my relationship to people who are not in my relationship. So it's frustrating on a few levels. Namely because I forget to take the high road and just refuse to engage, and also because my friends are nitpicking my relationship with a good man who truly makes me happy. I should clarify that my friends aren't, like, picking fights with me. It's all peaceful discussion. But it's needless, and I need to get better about telling them to drop the issue instead of letting it turn into a long, drawn-out talk about something that merits nothing more than a quick check-in, if that.

I'd love any advice from anyone who has been in this situation and how to divert this kind of thing.

Good: The Cubs are going to the World Series! I have talked a lot about our baseball rivalry bringing us together, and recently came out of the closet as a Cubs fan (check my history if you want to see the ridiculous post to r/CHICubs - also, how can you NOT love the Cubs, their club is just so freaking endearing). I have never seen my SO so happy. It took a while for it to kick in, but when it did, he picked me up and squeezed me hard and just yelled YES! We celebrated all night. He'll be in Wrigleyville with his parents on Saturday - I likely will not get to as I've already promised to attend a baby shower, but something could change (like maybe winning those WS tickets I entered for, pls let me win). His excitement on Saturday night was something I know I will always remember.

Bad: I have a really busy schedule this week, lots of meetings and stuff to do. I hate busy weeks like this because it makes me a little edgy. Blugh.

Ugly: More sad than ugly, but my grandpa's health has been declining since May and he is back in the hospital. They've been preparing to move to TN to be closer to the rest of the family, although he does not know this - my grandma has kind of kept this from him because his confusion has gotten a lot worse and she doesn't want to upset him. There have been so many changes in their relationship dynamics due to his health, I can't imagine how hard this is on her.

Good: we attended a family party at the weekend, and it all went well, daughter behaved lovely, I was mostly happy with how I looked and hubs was charming as ever with my cousins and uncles. I also made up for being crabby on Thursday when H got home early again on Friday and over the weekend •_~

Bad: fitness regime went BAD last week, and ate too much trash. Buildup to party made me a bit anxious I think.

Ugly: my phone is breaking, I have to pick a new one and I hate that kind of decision! I will over-research probably, and need a boy decision to break the deadlock

Good: So I'm totally back on diet and fitness regimen for the past two weeks. I'm always hesitant to claim one week of success when I start something because if it doesn't stick then the following week I need to chalk it up to being a fluke. Well I'm really excited about this and have been doing well. I've already lost a few lbs... thanks keto!

Yesterday I heard something at my AA meeting that really helped me to get over this resentment I've been having. However, when I talked to the person it was about, I felt so vulnerable I felt like crap afterwards. I hate that feeling of being that open with people but it is something I"m working on and at least I did it.

Bad: I tried to get on zinc. Fucked up my life yo! That stuff really messed my stomach up. Note to self. No zinc.

Ugly: Nada

Good: (1) Occam and I are giving WOW a try (I haven't played since 2007 or so, and I have missed it). The game has changed quite a bit (only natural) and I love that the trial is no longer a limited window of time (1-2 weeks). Now it's free up to level 20, which is great and means you don't have to do a sustained cram-session.

(2) I'm getting back into a (formal) pilates setting with equipment etc (instead of just doing exercises on my own). I'm really excited and a bit nervous. (2a) I hit a new personal health goal and it feels great!

(3) Found a present for my mom that I really think she'll like. (3a) all my holiday cards are written.

(4) I'm really glad I have the ability to vote by mail. It's always a calming experience for me (no crowds, no lines, no noise). :0)

Bad: (1) Sunday was Nose-mageddon for some reason. My head felt like a cracked egg, and I couldn't stop sneezing, itchy eyes to boot. Thankfully today has been much better (at least, so far haha).

(2) I've been fighting to get some orders cancelled, after the company (repeatedly) kept sending 'delay of shipment' emails to me. Even though the initial mailing window hadn't passed yet, AND I couldn't get a straight answer about when I could reasonably expect the items to ship in the first place. I finally read some reviews (I didn't think the company was suspicious because it's well known) and was surprised by how many negative things people had to say. I then went into "hyper-annoying" mode (for the company and customer service reps). By annoying I mean that when I spoke to the reps I was very clear about the information that I wanted (confirmation that the shipments were cancelled, confirmation about the amount to be refunded etc, who do I call if/when I don't receive an email within the 24hr time period that was promised etc etc). I got several different stories about why there were delays, but when people have been complaining about the same things since 2010...I'm not inclined to believe someone when they say "it's because the holidays are coming up."

The bad - I was hospitalized this last weekend with threatened pre-term labor. Contractions that wouldn't stop (and likely won't until LO makes his presence). I got two steroid shots and cried like a baby. Those hurt! Just now coming off bed rest...

The good - Husband has been working and doing light household chores while I bed rest without complaint. Insisting that I'm actually still doing too much to be considered "bed rest". I'm so grateful for how much he cares for me and his son. I have never doubted his love for me before and likely after this, I never will.

One of things I've been doing for Husband is saying, "yes." His favorite video game is...not my favorite. I'll watch it competitively. (It's a highly strategic game) But the other day, he asked if I'd play with him. I usually say, "Heck no!" It's a really hard, overwhelming game and I get super flustered playing it. But instead, I said yes. You guys. He was over the moon! He texted me at work later that day saying, "Can we still play again tonight? I'm actually giddy thinking about it!" My husband, after 10 years, was giddy to do something with me. Why the heck did I ever say no?!

The ugly - I've been dealing with a lot of guilt and anxiety this week on bed rest. I should be able to do more. I should be able to maintain the house better. I should, I should, I should...

Good: My husband and I helped a relative get out of a bad situation by helping her move out. It was exhausting, but we had much fun while doing it, and it allowed my husband to have bonding time with men in my family.

Bad: My relative gave me some clothes that she didn't want anymore, but we didn't take the clothes bag with us. :( Thankfully I'll see her soon to get the bag of clothes back.

Ugly: We got sick because the moving out happened on a cold and rainy day (my husband much more than I though).

Good: My job is going well and I am learning so much. My husband and I have taken up kayaking and have had two fabulous trips down the river. Bad: I finally signed on to face book and my son told me my profile picture had to go. Ugly: I guess it would be my profile picture.
