I have been reading this and related reddits for several weeks, but there are a few things I don't really understand. I read a thread on another sub where the husband said that his wife would say, "say something nice to me," or something like that and he considered it a manipulation. It seems quite the opposite of manipulative to me, because she is asking for exactly what she wants. I suppose it seems like a very small request to make a big deal out of, and I can't really see why he wouldn't just give her what she's asking for. So, unless this happens every single day or something, what would be the reason to not just give her what she's asking for when it's just a small thing? This is in the context of a marriage, not just a date. Wouldn't he want to meet that need for her, because he would want her to seek that approval from him and not another? (Assuming she is meeting his needs, why not try to meet hers?) Anyway, sorry for the long question and I eagerly await responses. Reading here has been really eye-opening.
