How to behave/assert your dominance when another woman is friendly-acting towards your man in front of you?

I assert my place by introducing myself to said woman and befriending her to keep her close. As in, she wouldn’t be able to ignore me due to me being in her face in a friendly manner. That way, she knows who I am through a classy power play that doesn’t have me behaving unattractively.

IF it continues, I ignore her and remain my happy self. Being unbothered is also an assertion.

I just wanna know if anyone has any advice on how to be more dominant in a situation like that just to “let these btches know,” I guess lol or am I approaching these kinds of things all wrong? Yes you're right, you probably already knew. The best way to "assert dominance" is being the best gf you can be to your man and have faith that he won't disrespect you. Being gracious and classy in public is the priority.

If a situation like that happens, you can always tell him afterwards *in private* that you were a little uncomfortable that this girl hugged him. And leave it at that.

Why care honestly? So she didn’t acknowledge you. Maybe she is rude, maybe she after your man. Let it ride off you, go over your head. Just have fun with your man. You’re better than her and better than this right? Secure enough to not even notice.. Or dump a drink over her head. 😂

I wouldn't get so uptight about a greeting. Most people don't put much thought into a hug for "hello". I know a lot of people in a LTR or married who go for a hug and have never found it weird.

However, if it really bothers you, being assertive and guarding your SO would come off as being insecure, surely. Make it clear to him that hugging other girls is making you uncomfortable so he can find another way to greet them. Maybe some of the more experienced RPW can suggest a way to tell him that without looking like you are nit-picking and overthinking.

She's flexing her sexuality. You can rise above it, or point out her insecurity to her (privately or publicly) to get her to back down.

I personally wouldn't change my behavior from my usual one. Her being friendly doesn't affect your relationship with your bf. She's irrelevant (in sense of competition), as long as you focus on him.

Acting possessive and defensive of him is unattractive and smells of insecurity, and nothing deflates the "new contender" like your own confidence. Focus on him and watch his response. If he's responding to her whiles - reassess what might be missing in your relationship and care the loving crap out of your bf, until he forgets what the other girl even looked like.

But at the end of the day, you can't control what the other woman does. Or how he responds (or doesn't). She's irrelevant. He's your focus. Be the Queen - gracious, polite, pleasant, and unshakable.

I think it helps a lot to give the person the benefit of the doubt. In these inconsequential little interactions, always assume the best of them... even if you suspect it may not be true. You will always come off looking classy and generous this way.

For example, consider that she didn't greet you equally because she felt awkward. She knows your partner but not you. Give her some grace - introduce yourself kindly and warmly, if your partner hasn't already. Or if he has introduced you, take that as a cue to invite her into conversation with you both: "Do you work in (department) with DH?" Or "DH tells me you're a (hippopotamus whisperer), where did you learn something like that?!"

You may find that when you behave as though you think highly of people, they try their best to rise to the occasion.

My husband would never touch another woman anyway but this is one of the reasons I keep my face, body, wardrobe, etc in tip-top shape. It’s mostly for me and my own self-confidence but in scenarios like this, I feel very confident that I’m the best match for my husband and it really doesn’t matter if a friendly/obnoxious woman wants to try her luck. If it’s really getting out of hand and hubby is oblivious, I’ll ask him to get me a glass of water and then either go with him or stay chatting with Ms. Handy if she’s alone.

I just sort of laugh and have pity on women who get in my man's space. I know he'd never go for another woman, and that she's just embarrassing herself as a result. If a particular woman's behavior is a problem, I would probably bring it to my husband, and say something like 'I feel very bothered by her behavior and I would really appreciate your help.' Maybe figure out what it is, in particular, that you need his help with? Whether that's feeling safe / confident, feeling vindicated, having clearer boundaries, whatever it is you need. Then he can be your hero by solving the problem :)

Mateguarding isn't wrong when done properly. Get closer to him, bash the girl in public, etc. If you are cool about it, your man's gonna laugh on it. Unless he hasn't realized what's going on, and if he doesn't realize then he is a problem. You see?
