My SO and I have been married a looong time, but every so often things happen between us that cause me to become very resentful and/or hurt. Incidents like this don't happen very often, but when they do, I tend to let it fester in my head, and I don't want to do that.

It might seem silly, but last night it was a torrential downpour. Husband and I get out of the car (no umbrella) and start walking fast to the restaurant. Well, I'm walking, but he is running ahead of me. Then he goes into the lobby. I finally get to the door, drenched, while another man is coming out and this man sees me and holds the door open for me. Husband is four feet away and acknowledges the other guy with a head nod. Meanwhile, I'm so pissed off that I know if I open my mouth, all hell will break loose, so I keep it closed, except to say "thanks for waiting, I can't believe you did that" to which he replied "Well, I didn't want to get wet"!

We sat down, and for the first 5 minutes I had the lazer death ray look in my eyes, so I ordered a beer because I wanted to calm down and salvage this night, made a conscious decision to ignore what happened and have a nice dinner and movie. We did, but I still feel resentful and hurt.

I need some perspective here. I know it was a minor blip in our relationship, but there are times when these minor things really set me off and I need to work on not letting it get to me as much as I do.

I need to know how YOU all would approach this, meaning the emotional aspects of it, how you would talk to your SO about it, (in the past I would have acted all pissy to him or been in a rage), would you just be straight forward and tell your SO how it made you feel or would you approach it in some different way?
